My union rep just told us the plant will be down the week of July 2nd and will run normal production the following week. You will schedule your 2nd week at your desire. I think he said we can schedule 2nd week after april 1st.

I was told the same thing by my rep also. He said the reason why we gave up the second week of shut down is so we didnt have to work five saturdays. WTF. We gave up xmas bouns, the day after easter and cola. Now the greedy bastards want our over time on saturdays. Hey, the union said they can do that. What a joke. Plus I dont want to take my vacation in nov or dec. The new hires now will only get one week of vacation now. Ford will save money on not paying a week of sub pay for them.

Can't schedule one day off. It's going to be a hell of a time to get a week off.

If this is true, and Ill have to have it verified, then this is complete bullshit. Nothing like #1, not being asked, and #2 having somebody that makes over $125k a year decide that his membership doesn't want some extra money.

Closer to $175k

I knew this was coming. It is BS.
Fortunately for me I will get the vacation I want but alot of people are going to get screwed by this.
I totally disagree that the membership want this.

As a skilled trades employee this is almost comical...this equipment that has already on it's last leg will now only have one week for upgrades and corrective work.....this will be fun. Just keep getting dumber and dumber. Wow!

The union floats a rumor exactly two weeks before the April 1st deadline to piss everybody off and then two weeks later puts out a memo patting themselves on the back for negotiating (WINK,WINK) the first two weeks in July as shutdown. JMO

Let me give my opinion on a gew things here, but be forwarned it may not be wat you want to hear.
1. I wasn't asked if this is what I want.
2. It wasn't proposed to us in the local contract.
3. This is complete and utter B.S.
4. I agree with richatktp1, they float this rumor jus so they can come back and tell us how good of a job they have done to get us the two weeks off together. They did this last year and guess what, IT WAS AN ELECTION YEAR FOR THEM.
Finally, and this is important because this is the one that will piss all of you off. I wouldn't mind spreading my vaction time around. I would like to take off from this place when I so choose to do so. Plus I don't like (and never have) to wait two weeks for a paycheck after shutdown. Our check's should be coming to us on a weekly basis. I never liked getting my two week's vaction check the last week I worked before shutdown. It is taxed more and to be honest I lose money getting it that way. I save all year for a vacation so I don't need to get three weeks pay at one time. If anything they could have at least changed that part and I wouldn't complain (well maybe I would still complain).

As long as I get my time, this issue means nothing to me. Two weeks off during the hottest most expensive time to travel...I've never been a fan. I like to take vacations during Christmas...Easter...and Labor Day...which I did last year...best year of vacations ever. Repeating this yr...

Two things here, I know we all do not agree on things that is what makes us all different. 1. More or less it is what you said, you prefer the two weeks in a row. In a way I don't mind the two weeks in a row, just hate getting those two weeks pay at the same time BEFORE my vacation begins. If Ford was smart (LAUGHS) they would continue to pay us each week instead of the way they do it now. They could make interest on our pay before they pay us. 2. Sorry to say but NOT everyone get's that third week whenever they want. Quite a few of them have less than 15 years in now. It won't be long before they do have it though.

Was told today that c. 240 temps will be brought in for the summer.
I suppose it doesn't matter to me WHEN the second week actually is.
But lower seniority people and people who have things planned in advance for that second week aren't too happy......
But, on the other hand, this is something that ALL the other plants do.

Firm dates come out beginning of April every year. I don't make plans for vacation until after that date. But I know it's hard to do that when 11 out of the past 12 years it has been at the same time. The company wants you to be complacent. Sorry if i spelled that wrong.

Ok if ALL the plants are doing this then lets do the 4 day work week like ALL the other plants will be soon or already are and like someone said before Scott knew we didnt like this last year when they wanted to change it sooo it was election time he saved the day and was able to work it out for the {members} .....

I think he said we can schedule 2nd week after april 1st. Nothing says you can`t schedule your second week now. I put in for it last week and got aproved with paper in hand. You need Dec..eligibility. June people can`t schedule past May right now.

Depends on where you are locatd in the plant. I hear some area's won't even accept your request until April 1st. I haven't even tried to get my second week yet but I might try today.
