If stamping wasn't down, yes we would build the trucks and repair them at a later date. Hard to build the trucks without the body panels.I still can't see KTP Ford shipping EVERYTHING to another plant. The logistics in that move would be nearly impossible to keep track of. True once everything moved all they need to do is ship it back here but the by having our press down we would have to ship the empty racks back to them.
It would be better to keep it all here and do what we can when the press is back up and running. How many trials would they run after it is fixed? Be prepared for some serious long hours in the near future.

It has to be a combination of crash sensors and stamping. I am sure not running benefits the company with a write off of some sort. Going against the sensor vendor, not for the stamping trouble.

This works both ways...we received dies from Chicago to stamp some of their parts while they had a big break down.

Trinitus they have to track tens of thousands of trucks that they ship to hundreds of dealers. They track thousands of parts daily so I dont see them having problems with the logistics of a few hundred racks and the dies. If we did it for Chicago then Chicago can do it for us. Hopefully I am right.

So with all this is it going to affect LAP?

I would guess LAP will be affected if they don't get press 2 pumping off LAP parts at rapid speed...but I would expect press 2 will be running 24/7 to keep LAP running.

Hopefully I am right. As true as this seems, they are prepared to track parts and complete units that have been shipped out the door. This on the other hand is not a long time solution but a mere band-aid until the press is up and running. Thy can hav truck number's and know who is taking what but in the end, a mistake could cost them. Trucker's have to have a manifest of what they are carrying, IE: wieght, Hazardous etc. A mistake on the part of the shipping clerk could send the stuff we need somewhere that it don't belong. Keep in mind this is the first time this plant has done this. once the body parts start coming to s then they get the press running that could be where the problem starts. Empty rack's on the road as well full racks. Not to mention the loading and shipping of the dies back to KTP.

It is sure to cost them a lot of money to transfer all of this stuff around, but it costs them even more to lose production

So any talk of next weeks schedule Scott, balls to the wall or limp along until we get the press up and running.I would think we would be down a couple of days when they ship all the racks and dies back in, in a couple of weeks...

Here is the latest after last nights shift...All the die's and parts from press 1 took 50 flatbeds and semi's to transfer to Chicago! Everything will take about 2 days to set and run test parts then Chicago should be punching out parts for KTP by Thursday running 24/7 so should be enough time to get parts to begin production next week at KTP.
Sensors were a issue but if you don't have panels for the trucks sensors have no bearing.
All info from Wed morning as of 7am...of course like everything at KTP...subject to change.

Well what I heard... Press one needs new part, new part not available for 5 weeks (roughly) the goal is to repair old part well enough to run, old part is scheduled to be repaired by mid next week 7/25ish (if repair works) If it does work the goal is limp along until new part is available, supposedly part problem had nothing to do with new vendor servicing press... just coincidence. Part issue is related to age of press?? So press 2 will get inspection to guard against another part issue... Heard it through the grapevine
