Brothers and Sisters,
It is my honor to thank those who helped so much during the organizing campaign of the Faurecia facility near the Kentucky Truck Plant. “WE—ARE---ORGANIZED!!!” This plant builds the Instrument Panels for the Louisville Assembly Plant. The workers have chosen to have a voice in the workplace and they recognize that there is a brighter future in their jobs. The UAW is currently working with the plant workers at this time holding shift meetings. Brother George Palmer, and myself, want to personally thank those who stood aside us while we were informational picketing the plant. This new union recognition in the community says that many workers are ready to formulate their own opinion about union representation. While representation is directly related to the involvement of the membership, there will always be challenges in the workplace and it is our responsibility to carry the torch for those who want representation but cannot achieve it on their own.
There is another Faurecia location and we hope to see them organized soon as their sister plant is now. We will again ask the membership and leadership teams to assist as they did on the current and completed drive. The sister plant is close to the Louisville Assembly Plant and we will rely more so on those members and the leadership working at LAP as we did from the Kentucky Truck Plant. This organizing effort is just one success story of hopefully many to come. I want to thank the Local 862 team as you were instrumental in the organizing of this location. This is what it means to assist your brothers and sisters in the labor movement. Region 8 is on the move and working on organizing efforts in an accelerated pace.
