The IUAW is raiding the Strike Fund at such a rapid clip that they are coming after the ones they are supposed to protect. Look at the stats on the strike fund in this story. The IUAW has already blown a 3rd of it. Here is your reason why.
The 551 resolution agrees there is a problem: “…the International Strike Fund has fallen from a peak of $914.2 million at the end of 2005 to $635.2 million in June of 2013, a level not seen since 1984.”

First change needed...use what we have already paid for...no more trips to anywhere other than BLACK LAKE to handle union business. Beaches, Vegas and we r going broke...makes sense to me. Want more dues, gets us more...otherwise, bring RTW so we can quit paying entirely to expedite the inevitable...bankruptcy.

Love this line...We need to organize the unorganized, not alienate the organized. - See more at: labornotes.org/blogs/2013/12/uaw-dues-increase-biggest-mistake-two-tier#sthash.Y6oZl6XI.dpufExactly...but why would most want to join if they see our leaders getting us nothing...our own leader removed perks from our local because we voted down the local...wake up ppl. How can LAP have gatorade machines, and our leader removed it from the local because we angered him?

I heard on a national radio show a few days ago that up in Indiana (RTW) that 90% quit paying dues. Gee I wonder why?

Michigan now right to work and alot threatening to do the same...stop paying dues. All these guys have aspirations of moving up north after retiring to double dip on that pension working IUAW...they will move to increase dues regardless of what you want. It's time for a change in leadership at this plant in my opinion.

If our dues go up, I want to know when will one of the Union Halls go up for sale. There's no need for one local to have two halls. Will summer school stop being held at a lavish resort in Florida? Isn't it funny how conventions are held in places like Las Vegas. Would love to know all the perks the International and local officials receive like golf country clubs, sporting events with season tickets or top notch restaurants on our dues. I think an increase in our dues is a slap in our faces. If we would get our well deserved raise and bringing in new hires, wouldn't that bring an increase in dues? And while its on my mind, I thought cola was suspended until Ford was finically stable. I think when our 3 top execs can split $100 million dollars in bonuses, I would say we're in pretty good shape. I'm tired of Ford buying us with sign on bonuses. I want it on my check so it stays on my check. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful to have a job at Ford but with our wages falling behind and our medical insurance continuing to get worse, now is not the time to raise my dues without my approval. I'm sure with local elections around the corner you will be hearing a lot of promises from candidates. Don't forget the ones that don't do their jobs or never see unless they want your support at election time. Lets make this a union to be proud of again.

But it's going to take a group effort to get anything done. Now that they've lost VW, they will really go after. our dues.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, This week the International Executive Board has requested that the Local Union distribute an informational letter discussing the Union finances including the proposed increase in union dues. As many of you have already heard, during a recent UAW National Ford Council meeting, the International Union took an unofficial vote of the delegation on the issue of increasing membership dues. As you can imagine many of the delegates wanted to avoid being singled out as disagreeing with the International Union leadership, however, the Local 862 Plant Chairpersons, Bargaining Committees, Skilled Trades Representatives, National Ford Council Delegates, from both LAP and KTP along with your Local Union President were some of the very few that stood up in opposition of this proposal. The UAW Leadership from both plants are against this proposal at this time. This is no time to ask the membership for a dues increase when they have already sacrificed so much. We feel that increased hourly rate gains and bonus enhancements for the membership is the best way to achieve additional funds through union dues for the International Union. Please make no mistake about it, we strongly support the International Union and UAW Vice-President Jimmy Settles as they have been extremely beneficial to the ongoing success and growth of our plants and to the job security of our membership. And the reasons presented by the International Union for needing additional funds through increased dues should not be easily dismissed. However, we feel this is not the appropriate time to increase union dues. We also realize that the overall majority of our membership is not in favor of this proposal either, and we feel there is a better way to resolve this issue. The International Union is instructing the Appointed Representatives at each plant to distribute a letter from Bob King and Dennis Williams to the membership at the plant gates. This letter is asking to start dialogue with the membership about building the power of our union, including the reasons why the International Union feels a dues increase is necessary at this time. This information is being provided by the International Union and not the Local Union. They want you to get the facts and provide information to answer your questions. Make certain your voice is heard. The International Union wants to hear from you. Located on the www.uaw.org website, is information about PRO-Member and you can also email them your comments at feedback@uaw.org Let us reiterate, we are not in agreement with any proposal to increase union dues. In Solidarity

Our pay keeps dropping relative to inflation, has for years and years. And, as I found out the other day, the company CAN AND WILL give you an R&W for failure to follow instructions FROM YOUR HOUSE OFF THE CLOCK. That is right brothers and sisters, the company can discipline you for calling the absentee hotline at 5:56 instead of 5:45. That is, they can write you up for doing something from your house when you are not on the clock.
So, BAD BAD BAD time to ask for more dues. Bad time.

Send them an email feedback@uaw.org tell them we don't need a raise in dues when so many have gave up to bail the company out of trouble. Now they want us to bail them out for dipping into "our" strike fund. They have had raises, they get double pensions, I don't even know how many people work for international, I'm sure there were no jobs eliminated up there. The membership is so sick and tired of giving up money and benefits and getting nothing in return.

This whole thing is crazy. And I just found out I don't even have to be paying all these dues. I already knew I could resign from the union and keep my job, but I didn't know that I'd only have to pay the part of my dues that goes to bargaining activities if I do that. Says so on the UAW website.
Maybe when they stop getting all that extra cash, they'll have to stop with the beaches and Vegas nonsense.

What the IUAW needs to do is rally the current membership it has and show the reasons why its a good thing to have a union. I worked for almost five years as a UAW member(before coming to ktp) for a company that has been doing all it can to stomp out the union (Cat) and the membership has done nothing to fight it. Their last contract was a joke to say the least. We need to rally all of our brothers and sisters, be good union members, and good employees. The attitude towards the union is not helping and is exactly what the companies want. The situation we have now is what we have to deal with, and we have to do what we have to do now. There are non union people right now fighting for their right to organize and have fair wages while we bicker and fight makes us look like fools. I had to explain to someone why they wouldn't lose their job if we had a strike, that shouldn't happen. We need to educate everyone and get all the membership involved. Also last UAW strike was 2007 for GM.

Committeeman said that it is no longer called the strike fund and that the increase in funds is for recruiting VW.

Just like the democratic/socialist run government. More tax increases to sustain a mis-managed/mis-alighned, no-direction organization... see the correlation? You can keep bitching but we're all going to eat the poo sandwich.
