I would like this thread to stay positive. No trashing of individuals or attacks. Just post in favor of the committeeman you support.
I have many that have been good. But, Jon Jaggers has been by far the best. Dan Davilla and Brent Eskridge have both gone above and beyond for the ones that work around me also. (Brent was not even assigned to my area when he helped out) I saw Dan constantly and he solved many issues. Jon Jaggers worked like a mule. I have seen him early and stay late to get work done. After years of watching his work ethic, I nominated him for everything except President at the meeting.
Who is your favorite?

Charlie always did a good job when I was at KTP. Comes around nearly every day, keeps you informed and fights for you when needed.

Isn't Allen the one that went against the BC and begged everyone to vote YES for more concessions to help the company survive right before we voted it down and then the company announced record profits?

Regardless of what allen Hughes did or didn't do, the union on a much larger scale was going to do whatever they wanted, and so was the company....but on a smaller scale, allen has been very consistent in his handling of his daily duties to the membership!

Yes, Mr. Hughes walked the floor and asked for you to vote YES on giving up your right to go on strike. Kind of takes away what little bargaining power a union has when you cant at least threaten to strike.

Goodman, Jaggers both did a good job in paint& Johnston. Davila new to paint seems to be a strait up guy just hard to get a hold of, seems like you have to go through your team leader, but always gets you a answer, Just my 2 cents PLEASE VOTE......THANK YOU.

Thanks

Since everyone complains about current, how about the membership makes a pact and votes all new committeeman, no one that is current gets voted in! Spread the word, I think it would be awesome!

I gotta ask what makes a good committeeperson...
I've been told by committee people "if they try to write you up, we'll write a grievance". In my opinion, a good committee person tells management stop and then uses available resources to show them error of ways. Like trying to add work, or I want you at job 10 mins before line starts etc... something stupid... Battles unruly supervision. Doesn't allow things to get to write up Should the committee person know how to battle these issues
Curious if my thinking is out of whack with main stream.

That's a good question. Some people think a good committeeman is one who you see everyday and passes out newsletters and bids on a timely basis. While it is important for them to walk the floor and pass out info, it's more important that they are reachable and respond quickly when you need them. Most important though is that they know they contract fully and can enforce it. They should be proactive and fight for your rights before a problem escalates to the point of being written up. If done right, it's not an easy job and that's why so many who get elected fail to do a good job.

For everyone that say's that this committee man is a good one, there are at least three other people that will disagree with you. A good Committee man knows the ontract, they ar reachable and respond within a reasonable time frain. A good committee man get's the information to the membership the same day it is available not three day's later (in some case's they never get the info out due to laziness). A committee man MUST treat everyday as an election day, not just at election time. A good committee man must respond to you when you call them and not run to your supervisor first (I have seen ths time and time again).
Our Building Chair needs to be proactive in or cmmittee men to make su thydo their job as outlined in our by-laws. No more free pass's to these people. I will always vote for the one I think will do the best job, in this case I will vote (for the first time ever) for anyone that is not in office currently.

John Jaggers was always on the ball, very helpful with union matters, Johnson blew me off more than once when I needed help, Roy Ice gave me crap when I needed help, told me to get my contract book out and show him the proof i needed, when I did that he told me I was on my own. St. Clair came in on a Saturday(he was off) and got things straightened out pronto, also helped on numerous issues asap. The rest were worthless.

I'm voting all new except 3 people. I think some need to come back to the line and remember what it's like.

Jon Jaggers and Bryan St. Clair were always available and gave you straight answers. Saw them every day. Charlie Jones and Alan Hughes come by everyday to check on you and keep you up to date. For those of you that don't think that's important (Bill Johnston) you can count on not getting my vote and anyone I know will know that also. Worse committeeman ever. It is very important to come by everyday. It makes us feel we matter. You can't have enough of that at FOMOCO. You may not like the answers they give but you feel heard.

Bob Eicholtz, who is an alternate was the only person who made sure I got a copy of the local agreement, he had my vote when he did that.
