sorry! Really trying to understand what KTP local 862 is calling a district... If anyone out there can explain this... I'm truly confused. Elections at previous UAW LOCALS (many many elections) ... A district is a defined area and shift within the plant like pre-delivery A crew or bodyshop A crew and your drot would show that you do work in that area. And you better have the seniority to hold the area... This is a district, a defined area you represent, the plant chairman establishes districts, and this has to be done prior to an election. As a candidate for that district you have to work (reside) in that district to run for that district. The way KTP is running their election, (not familiar) with where all candidates work prior to election, but it seems we have election and top vote people are elected then assigned to a district to represent.... you can't do that and call your rep's district representatives!! That situation would be top vote getter (at large position) not district representation... Each case has different voting rules required by Landrum Griffin act....... So can someone explain are we electing district representation.... OR are thet at large positions that Chairman assigns to area? So confused... I know Skilled Trades is not being elected by district what about other areas... Probably a better area for these questions but haven't found anyone to explain yet... thanks for any help
