I want to know, how many of you really believe in acting as one and showing your support for one another? I see so much complaining and even a few of you saying you would "opt out" of the union if given the chance. If you don't want to be a part of a union there are other places hiring right now that you can seek employment with. You have a pension because of the UAW, you make as much as you do because of the UAW, and you can leave in 30 years, UAW again. You can disagree with the union and everything it's doing, but show your support for your brothers and sisters for the love of God.

Why leave Ford? Any of us can resign the union at any time and keep our job. They keep that quiet, but it's the law. You'll still have to pay an agency fee, but 1) it's a whole lot less than dues, 2) you still get all the benefits of the union, and 3) I feel better knowing that I'm not supporting their politics. Most of us are pretty conservative around here, but we fund the bosses' liberal crap with our dues, and they hold us hostage with our jobs! Ans you want me to say thank you? No thanks!
I'm happy to pay for services rendered: contract negotiation, grievance representation, all that. But we all know this has gone way too far, and we're just pawns in their game. I'm grateful for the job, the pension, and my brothers and sisters, but that's no reason to bend over for the bosses. Unions are supposed to be about empowering us workers, giving US power. When was the last time we got a raise in a contract? When was the last time the union reps and bosses didn't? Case and Point.
