100th Ramp Celebration – Recently our UAW Local 862 Ramp Team met a major milestone; the building of the Official 100th Wheelchair Ramp. We are very proud of the difference the UAW Local 862 Ramp Team has made in our community. On August 19th @ 11:00am at the KTP Union Hall we will celebrate that milestone and thank the Ramp Team for their hard work and craftsmanship. The Ramp Team projects are the result of collaboration between the UAW/Ford Community Services Team and Metro United Way.
17th ANNUAL MUSTANG and all ford show – This event will be held September 6, 2014 (rain or shine) at the Fern Valley Hotel, 2715 Fern Valley Rd., Louisville, KY 40213. The theme will be “50 Years of Mustangs”. Money raised will benefit the Bill Collins Parkinson’s Foundation. Entry fees all classes are $30 ($20 before August 30, 2014). Registration forms and information are available at both UAW 862 Local Union Halls.
Final Reminder (Standing Committee Sign-ups) – You can make a difference. If you have strong ideas to share you can have a direct impact in the UAW Local 862 by serving on one or more of the standing committees. We depend on members, like you, to create a stronger, more effective Local, better able to make a positive impact in the community. If you would like to make a difference in your Local we will be taking signups at the August 12th Membership Meeting at the LAP Union Hall (12:00pm & 6:00pm). The standing committees are…

Region 8 and National Ford Department Leadership Visit – August 13th and 14th we will be welcoming Vice President Jimmy Settles, Regional Director Ray Curry, Assistant Director Ron Hendrix, and International Servicing Representative Greg Poet to Louisville to visit both KTP and LAP membership. Our UAW plant leadership, along with a representative from Congressman John Yarmuth’s office, will be visiting with plant management, UAW Local 862 committee, and other guests.
Ford’s July Sales - July was a great month for Ford and Lincoln with positive gains across the board in all the major segments. Ford’s U.S. July sales increased 10 percent with 212,236 vehicles sold for its best July performance in eight years. Ford Escape posted best July with a 19 percent sales increase. Ford F-Series again topped 60,000-vehicle mark, up 5 percent. (Source: corporate.ford.com)
UAW Local 862 golf Tournament – This event will be held at the Iroquois Golf Course on Sunday, August 24, 2014. Entry forms can be picked up at either Local 862 union halls or visit uaw862.org to print one from the website.

Labor Day Tickets – Don’t forget to pick up your Labor Day Picnic Louisville Zoo tickets at the advanced discount price of $7.00 at either UAW Local 862 union hall. Tickets purchased the day of the event at the gate will be $9.00. Volunteers are still needed.
LAP Community Services Committee – You can still drop off your unused toiletries (i.e. shampoo, body wash, and conditioner) you collected from hotel stays while on vacation this Summer. We still have bins in the secretaries’ offices to collect your donations or bring your items to the Aug 12th Membership Meeting at the LAP Union Hall. The items collected will be donated to the Wayside Christian Mission and Camp Taylor Elementary.
