2015 MKC: 2,477 27 day supply
PRODUCTION OVERTIME: As of this writing our tentativemandatory overtime

that these dates are tentative; you’ll be notified by the Company about that

BIDDING OPEN FOR COT POSITIONS: Bidding for the COT Inspectors and COT Drivers
will now be open until 11:59pm on 10/6. Per the contract, only employees
holding non-designated job classifications are eligible to bid on COT positions
(a list of all classifications and their standing can be found on pages 22-23 of
the Local Agreement). Remember that these are temporary jobs for overtime
opportunity to be worked on your RDO’s and have no effect on your current
classification or bid job. The COT bid will be good for 6 months.
UK-UL TICKETS: We have tickets for the UK vs U of L football game on Saturday,
November 29. Tickets are $60 and the seats are up high. We only have 150
tickets, so if you’re wanting them don’t wait. You can buy them from 4-6
am Monday thru Friday at Ralph Napier’s office at E-18. His office number is
3674, his cell is 812-987-7611. He will have them for 2 weeks or until they are
sold.
DRIVE THE NEW LINCOLNS:We’d like to extend this invitation to experience for
yourself the all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC, reimagined 2015 Navigator, MKZ and MKZ
Hybrid. Come take a drive and have all of your questions answered by
knowledgeable product specialists. Light snacks and soft drinks will be
served. When: Monday, September 29, 11:30 a.m.–7 p.m. Where: Gate 6,
west parking lot in front of the Admin building.
HELP WITH TRICK-OR-TREAT: The UAW Local 862 Community Service Committee is
still needing volunteers for the World’s Largest Halloween Party at the
Louisville Zoo on Saturday 10/4. VOLUNTEER SCHEDULED TIME is: 4:00 P.M.-9:30
P.M. – no exceptions. Volunteers are welcome to come in “not too scary”
costumes (friendly ghosts, pirates, scarecrows, and storybook characters), since
the event is geared toward very young children. Anyone wearing a scary costume
will be asked to change clothes before volunteering. Masks that cover the face
may not be worn. Please contact Tara Britt at 502-419-4284.
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH: We need your help! LAP will be selling Breast
Cancer Awareness T-shirts, hats and jackets as well as chances to win other
items. All proceeds will benefit breast cancer awareness and research. The
sale will be held in the main cafeteria on Wednesday October 1 from 9:00 am to
12:30 pm and 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm, then again on Friday October 3 from 9:00am to
12:30pm.
THEFT IN THE PLANT:Unfortunately we have to report that HR has received several
complaints of items being taken from employee’s work areas at various times
and on various crews. Please keep your valuables locked up or as safe and
nearby as possible, and keep an eye out for suspicious activity.
WALK WITH FORMER LAP BARGAINER AND CURRENT STATE REPRESENTATIVE: LAP’s own
Jeff Donohue is running for re-election for KY State House 37th District. We are
asking for volunteers to help Jeff walk his district and hang door knockers on
Saturday September 27, 2014 from 9:00am-noon. UAW Kentucky State CAP will be
providing lunch for all union volunteers and their family members that help. Our
UAW 862 Recreation Committee will be doing the cooking. Come out and show your
support for one of our very own UAW members in the KY State House of
Representatives. The starting location will be the LAP Union Hall on Fern
Valley. Please RSVP to Amy or Lisa (502-241-9491) so we can make sure we have
enough food.
BASS TOURNAMENT: The Local 862 Recreation Committee is hosting a Bass
Tournament at Nolin Lake’s Moutardier Ramp Sunday, October 12, 2014. Entry fee
is $60 per boat and the deadline is October 3. For an entry form visit either
Local 862 Union Hall or www.uaw862.org
WHAT ARE MY DUES USED FOR?: We all pay union dues, but several people have
asked lately what their dues dollars actually get spent on. Currently, 5% of
dues are allocated to the strike fund. Over half of your dues (53%) are
rebated back to the local union to support members at the work site in
negotiating and servicing, and to be spent as the membership allows. A list of
the monthly local expenditures is listed in our Online magazine each month.
Then a little less than half (47%) remains with the International UAW and is
used to provide support services for local unions including health and safety
experts; legal staff to help locals win fights in court; health care and pension
experts to take on the employer’s consultants; website, magazine and other
resources to keep members informed; financial analysts to help local committees
understand their employer’s finances and business strategies, so that we can
take them on and win; auditors to help local unions keep their books in good
order, so they can stay accountable to members; assistance for locals and
members who are facing hard times or natural disasters; organizers to build our
density so we can win better agreements; and many other day-to-day expenses of
representing the interests of our 400,000 plus members.
STILL SMOKING IN THE RESTROOMS: Because the Company continues to receive
complaints about smoking inside the plant (especially in the restrooms), we have
been informed that the Company will be taking extra measures to make sure LAP is
in compliance with smoking laws and plant rules. If you’re smoking inside
the plant, especially in restrooms, please stop to be considerate of your
non-smoking coworkers and to protect yourself from possible penalties.
FRIENDS OF BILL W MEETING:Each Wednesday beginning on Wed Oct 1st there will be
a “Friends of Bill W Big Book” meeting held at 4:30pm in the conference room
of union office located at F-19. If you are interested please contact Craig
Waldridge, ESSP Rep on B-crew at 364-3687 (or just show up).
