Submission of National contract resolutions for 2015 negotiations – Forms must be submitted to the local union by December 1, 2014. You can obtain and/or turn in your forms via your committee person, the in-plant union offices, or either local 862 union hall.
War On Labor “Battleground KY” - There will be a bus traveling to Paducah, KY on October the 11th to fight the war on labor. There is a battle ground stand up and fight back program that will convene at 12:00pm (Paducah time). The bus will depart from the Louisville Assembly Plant Union Hall, located at 3000 Fern Valley Road, at 8:00am sharp. There are a limited number of seats; 26 total for the UAW. UAW Kentucky State CAP and the KY AFL-CIO are providing the bus for the trip. Mary Briscoe is the contact person for the sign-up if you wish to attend. Call the LAP union hall (502) 969-9136 and reserve your seat today! The seats will be reserved first come first serve. There will be refreshments on the way there. Please wear your union clothing representing your local union.
Honor Flight TO “Welcome Home” Volunteers – We are looking for volunteers to assist in welcoming home 22 WWII & Korean War Veterans and Guardians from the Honor Flight. We need volunteers to wave flags, banners, and thank the veterans for the time and service they provided to our country and protecting our freedom. This Welcome Home is a surprise for the returning veterans; always an emotional event for them....and for us too. Please gather on the Upper Level of the Louisville International Airport on Thursday, October 2. It will be a Southwest flight due at 10:00pm. If this is your first Honor Flight Welcome Home, you will not be able to miss everyone on the Upper Level, many wearing their military/veteran/support ball caps, and tee shirts. It is so great seeing that patriotism is still alive!
2nd Annual M. S. Pumpkin Derby – This event will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Louisville Slugger Field. Online registration is available. The M.S. Pumpkin Derby is a family friendly event to help raise awareness about the disease Multiple Sclerosis. The highlight of the event is the Pumpkin Derby, a unique side-by-side race featuring handcrafted, decorated pumpkin racers in a fun battle for the coveted M.S. Pumpkin Derby Grand Championship Trophy in each of the four divisions. There is much more info at www.mspumpkinderby.com.
Statewide “HopeLine Drive” Project – LAP Community Services will be collecting old cell phone and accessories from now thru October 31, 2014. Verizon will work with communities by turning no-longer –used wireless phones into support for domestic violence victims and survivors. Please help by dropping off these items at either UAW Local 862 union hall or you can call Vera Newton at 364-3973 to make arrangements for pick up.
