banks. This is one way that everyday UAW members can do their part to help
protect and expand our way of life and our jobs. Lunch will be provided at
both union halls, and the times are listed below. Please make sure that you
sign in so our International CAP department has your name down as
participating. Thanks so much for your help!
PHONE BANK KTP……….Tuesday-Thursday 11AM to 3PM (only)
PHONE BANK LAP……….Tuesday-Thursday 4PM to 8PM (only)
TAKE A TRIP TO PADUCAH WITH US: THERE ARE STILL SEATS AVAILABLE for the bus trip
to the rally in Paducah Kentucky on Saturday October 11th. UAW Kentucky State
Cap and the KY AFL-CIO are providing the bus, and they still have available
seats for UAW members. The bus will leave the LAP union hall Located at 3000
Fern Valley Road, Louisville Kentucky at 8AM on the 11th, and the seats will be
reserved first come first serve. Mary Briscoe is the contact person for the
sign-ups if you wish to attend, so call the LAP union hall to reserve your seat
today! The event will begin at 12 NOON in Paducah. There will be
refreshments on the bus for those who attend. Thank you for your continued
dedication!!!!!
SUSAN G. KOMEN WALK AND TROLLEY STOP: On Saturday October 11th, UAW & Ford
will be sponsoring the Survivor Trolley at this year’s Susan G. Komen Race for
the Cure. If you are interested in participating in the Susan G. Komen Walk on
Saturday October 11th or if you just want to come and show your support, we’d
love to have you! The event is at Slugger Field on East Main Street downtown
by the waterfront. Participation including a walk shirt is a $30 donation.
Registration, the Family Fun Zone and Thornton’s pre-race snacks and coffee
all open at 7am, we’ll do a group picture in front of the Survivor Trolley at
8am, the 5K walk/run starts at 9am and the family fun walk starts at 9:15.
Come on down and show your support for breast cancer survivors and help us raise
money to find a cure!
2014 ADOPT-A-CHILD: It’s almost Christmas time again. Every year we host a
Christmas party for the less fortunate in the area, our “Adopt-A-Child”.
This year we are sponsoring children from two organizations - the VOA
(Volunteers of America) which is an organization where the entire family lives
in the facility, and Child Place in southern Indiana.
Our goal this year is to spend $200 to $250 on each child. At the party the
children will open gifts, have a pizza lunch/dinner, and enjoy entertainment.
The party will be on Friday December 19 at the UAW union hall on Fern Valley
Road. I am asking each employee to give $20 or whatever you can afford. I
would like each Quality Leader to collect the money in their areas, then call me
at 3674 and I will come and collect it. Supervisors and superintendents are
asked to help make sure this gets done. I would really like to have someone from
each area shop for a child. Anyone interested in volunteering to shop for a
child, please contact me.
In closing, I would like to thank everyone in advance for helping make this a
special Christmas for these kids. The look on their faces is priceless, and
this really is something they will remember forever. Remember, these kids have
very little, and without us most of them wouldn’t have a Christmas. I invite
everyone to attend the party at the Hall on December 19th and experience
firsthand how much your contribution means to the children. It may change your
outlook and will definitely warm your heart! Any questions or suggestions,
contact Ralph Napier – office: 364-3674, cell: 812-987-7611.
