34TH ANNUAL LIGHT UP LOUISVILLE – This spectacular event will get underway Nov. 28, the day after Thanksgiving, with the usual dazzling array of lights, lights and more lights. The event will again kick off "40 Nights of Lights" in Downtown Louisville. The holiday-time activities across downtown will include music, fireworks and other celebrations along four blocks of Fourth Street from the Galt House to 4th Street Live. The evening-after Thanksgiving event will include the arrival of Santa Claus, tens of thousands of downtown holiday lights and fireworks — with the action centered on a main stage at Fourth and Main.
UAW LOCAL 862 30th ANNUAL CHRISTMAS BOWLING TOURNAMENT – This annual event will be held at Strikes & Spares located at 6220 Old Shepherdsville Rd. The Team Event will be Monday, Dec. 29th at 9:30am and the Singles & Doubles will be Tuesday, December 30th at 9:30am. It is only $22.00 per person for each event. There will also be an “Actual All Events” available for $3.00 each. Due to lane availability, only the first 24 teams will be accepted. Entry forms may be picked up at either union hall, the in-plant union offices or through your committeepersons. Please submit completed entry forms and money order, or cash, to UAW Local 862 and turn into either Local 862 Union Hall.
KENTUCKY COMMISSION ON WOMEN STATEWIDE USED MOBILE PHONE DRIVE EXTENDED THROUGH NOVEMBER 30 - Due to tremendous response, the Kentucky Commission on Women (KCW) and Verizon Wireless has extended the KCW Statewide HopeLine through Nov. 30th, to ensure everyone has a chance to participate. Verizon Wireless will turn all of the donated devices from this drive into a cash grant for Work Safe, which provides domestic violence prevention training for Kentucky businesses. Please drop off your old phones or attachments in collection boxes located at either UAW 862 Union Hall or in the training center at Louisville Assembly Plant. UAW LOCAL 862 VALENTINE’S DANCE – It will be held Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 9:00pm – 1:00am at the LAP Union Hall located at 3000 Fern Valley Road. The cost is $20 per person which will include free beer, free setups, BYOB. It is open to the public and the doors will open at 8:00pm. The Lyndsey Henken Band will be performing. This is a fundraiser for the UAW “40 & Over” Softball Team. Reserve your table now. For tickets call Ed Blevins at 594-1116, Mike Goodlett at 295-6023, Terry Ayers at 376-6977, or Scott Smith at 777-6216.

UAW Veterans and Community Services Winter Coat Drive – From now thru December 19, 2014 collection bins will be located inside selected entrances at both plants and the union halls on Fern Valley Rd and Chamberlain Lane. We will only collect clothing items (i.e. coats, jackets, hats, and gloves). These warm items will be donated to Wayside Mission and Interlink (veteran’s charity).
