Don't let a Signing Bonus make your decision of your future and our retirees future.

You're exactly right. Last contract there were rumors of something like 20 or 25k signing bonus. When they came to us with I think it was 7k,they were all over it. I think this may be the most critical contract in the history of the U.A.W. If we take a screwing this time it's all over. Maybe for the U.A.W. too. Why would we need them. Think hard before you accept less than you think you deserve. They're making it hand over fist. Why should'nt you get a piece of the action.1 more thing, why do they tout profit sharing like it's something they just came up with to off-set our consessions when it's been around for years?

Honestly, I think the union ended a long time ago. I don't know what we have now. Certainly there is no longer any solidarity.I think that at this time the uaw is more important and useful to the company than the membership.Yea,you're probably right, there probably won't be a strike. Not enough fighters out there anymore. Everyone wants to play it safe. And theres a big price to pay for that.

We are the union. If we don't like the contract they don't call a strike on our behalf. We have to vote it down and then they either renegotiate, extend the old one or we can strike. We are the ones that determine our future. Unfortunately, "we" includes folks from other plants who don't seem to share our views. Now might be a good time to start posting on BOF.
As for me if they don't restore everything we've lost including raises we didn't get they can kiss my ass, I've saved my money. They have cried and cried and cried, we gave and gave and gave and they took and took and took FOR THEMSELVES. They continued to receive raises and bonuses while we are still making what we made 15 years ago. Mulally's salary was so sinful that it made headline news several times. When he negotiated his own contract it was stipulated that even his own family members would have use of the company jet. They cried about the US not having national health care and that they couldn't compete with foreign auto makers because they had national health care. The union lobbied with/for them. Now health care cost are so high it will probably be a major point in our new contract and you can bet your ass on the 2019 contract year we will all go on Obama care. Health care cost have risen for even Joe the plumber thanks to the lobby efforts of the union. Then we find out that our contract is nothing more than a unilateral agreement when it comes to equity of sacrifice.

People who want change will be left out. Yes Mullaly makes a shit ton of money off us, but so does the IUAW leadership. They never missed a raise.

www.uaw.org/page/uaw-constitution-salaries We have superintendents making more than the president of the UAW. WE also have skilled trades at all assembly plants (LAP and KTP ) included who make more money than the president. I don't think the president makes enough money, when you consider all the responsibility they have. An electrician at any of the big three can make more money than the president and don't have nearly as much responsibility. The pay for CEO however is OBSCENE. I don't see any way for FORD to cry poor this time around. I expect a good contract. The auto business runs in cycles, when times are good you bargain for all you can get, when times are bad you bargain to keep as much of what you have. I don't really understand people bashing our leadership though, most of the people in leadership came from the factory floor just like us. The big 3 have lawyers on top of lawyers negotiating with people from locals all over the country, who don't have law degrees, or any type of degree for that matter. If you think you can do a better job than they are, then get involved and run for office.

To the point that this proves the point that our voting machines are rigged. The IUAW uses shit tons of attorneys for contract negotiations as well. This is why there is so much grey matter in the contract books and our local leaders keep telling us "They can do that." If you don't understand why our leadership is getting bashed then you either live under a rock or you have no problems with getting sold out. I like my area of the plant. When ever Bargainers or the Chairman walks by everyone tells them how pissed they are at the shitty job they are doing. Mostly old timers with 20+ years in. That's Solidarity!

Good post major! Your right on. 95,when you say electricians make more than the president of the UAW, I assume you mean the president of 862 because there's no way in hell they make more than the president of the UAW. And if you mean the 862 president just how do you know how much he makes? I would find it hard to believe electricians make more than him.So how much does he make? Including expenses.

Since nobody answered your question I'm going to try. Not sure but I think they get paid 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. Rate I'm not sure of, probably whatever their current classification is. Hope somebody who knows for sure answers your question.

Did you look at the link I supplied. President makes 153000 and change. I personally know skilled tradesmen who make this much and more if they want to. Overtime sitting on there ass.

while that is true about the presidents base salary it is not true about about the overtime he gets . anytime anyone is working in the plant the president gets paid. the skilled trades get paid overtime they work, the base salary is very much lower then the president. so those facts you quote do no check out.

I wish we could post a copy of the time sheet that a certain person claimed to work every Sunday for 12+ hours OT when they were never fucking here in the plant to be seen! But their picture was taken at a UAW event (non-work related) that they were paid for as well. BTW, there were a total of 4 upper level UAW members getting paid for weekends that were never here.

I don't know how to make this more simple for you guys and gals . the link I put up is the UAW constitution.Narrowed down to salaries for the international officers. The president of the UAW (currently Dennis Williams ) salary is one hundred and fifty-three thousand, two hundred and forty-eight dollars and twenty-nine cents ($153,248.29) per annum. I was not referring to local 862 president, and whoever said that skilled trades doesn't make this much doesn't know what they are talking about. Base salary or not people with much less responsibility are making as much or more than the president of the International union. I personally don't believe the stress of that job would be worth it for $150000 a year. just my opinion.

The International President, International Secretary-Treasurer, International Vice Presidents and International Executive Board Members were scheduled to receive a three (3) percent Lump Sum Payment effective with the first payroll period of March 2011, and the salaries were scheduled to be adjusted quarterly in accordance with changes in the cost of living based on the current formula as developed by the International Executive Board. Consistent with bargaining between the UAW and the Staff Council of International Representatives, both the scheduled Lump Sum Payment and the Cost of Living provisions have been eliminated and the salaries shall therefore remain at the levels set forth in Section 3, subject to future bargaining as described in Section 13. I would take the 153,000 and change at straight time Vs living in the plant 12 hours a day / 7 days a week. The majority of elected or appointed UAW jobs the people are NOT putting is the same hours as production or trades guys actually working in the plant. Most have offices scattered around the plant with paper over the windows with no posted hours of operation. I love the standard line of "They are at the hall" but if you call the hall you get an answering machine. Production and trades guys might get some "ass time" but is being paid by Ford. The union staff gets lots more ass time paid by the membership and is harder to find.
