NSRA STREET ROD NATIONALS - Thousands of street rods and vintage cars will be pouring into Louisville over the next few days for the Street Rod Nationals August 6-9th at the Kentucky Exposition Center. This event is recognized as one of the world’s largest automotive events which includes a trade show, arts and crafts fair, a vintage auto parts swap meet and entertainment on Friday and Saturday. Visit www.kyfairexpo.org for event hours and ticket information and while you are there stop by and visit the UAW Booth near the food court in the South Wing.
Active Heroes Military Family COMMUNITY CENTER – There are free programs available to veterans and their family members. Some of the upcoming events include camping, hiking, acupuncture treatments, yoga and meditation, self-defense classes, and cross-fit boot camp. The center is located 8701 Old Bardstown Rd. 4TH ANNUAL HERO REWARD EVENT – This event will be held on Saturday, September 5th, 2015 from 2:00pm till dark with meal at 5pm. There will be prize give-a-ways, games and activities throughout the evening. Ron and Amy from the show Lizard Lick Towing and Big Daddy Tray from Ink Master will be there. Air Methods will fly a helicopter in for everyone to tour. They will unveil the new shelter house, fire pit, and recreation room. There will be pony rides, fishing, service dog display, a bouncy house and event prizes for kids and adults. All of their services are free to veterans, first responders and their families. No charge for admission. They are located at 873 Walnut Valley Rd NW, Corydon, IN 47112.
IMPORTANT MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION!! – As part of the National Negotiations it is important for you to attend the Local 862 Membership Meetings on August 11th 2015 as to understand the process and be able to ask questions. There will be UAW National Ford Department staff, along with Region 8 representatives in attendance. Representatives and staff will range from administrative assistants under Vice President Jimmy Settles, to Job Security Programs, Benefits, and other important areas of personnel within the National Ford Department. This month’s membership meetings will take place at the KTP Union Hall at 12:00pm and 6:00pm. They will be present at both meetings.

16TH ANNUAL LABOR DAY PICNIC AND CAR SHOW AT THE ZOO – We still have plenty of tickets for this year’s United Labor Day Picnic and Car Show which will be held at the Louisville Zoo on Labor Day September the 7th. Tickets are available within the plants; Mark Baker (KTP) 429-2291, Gayle Parker (LAP) 418-1990, and at each local union hall. They are $7.00 in advance and $9.00 if purchased the day of the event at the Louisville Zoo.
EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT –
Splendid Skin is now Louisville Laser. On Monday August 10th they are celebrating by offering B12 shots for $5 and combos for only $10 at the KTP Union Hall from 3-5 pm.
