If you're worried about it, don't be. Our weak leadership will never let it happen. The membership would probably go on strike and will vote overwhelmingly to do so. But, leadership won't allow it. Especially if they do the group healthcare plan that is to be controlled by the UAW. As we've already seen, once the UAW becomes shareholders, they help Ford before us. So if I had to put odds on a strike. I'd say 98% of us will vote to strike....< 2% chance we will.

I'm not worried about it.just curious what people think about. Especially the legacy guys and gals. I'm s 2nd tier guy and to be honest I kind of hope we strike.because I think that is the only hope I have of ever becoming a new traditional. The way it is set up now I don't think I will ever get there. I want the union to use that if that's what it takes for you legacy employee's to get back what you lost and get a raise that you deserve along With doing away with this damn tier system. I think it's time we stand together and fight for what's right and lets put the pressure on the iuaw and make them listen to us and fight for us . Lets remind them and SHOW them that WE are the uaw and not them.and that we demand they listen to us and get us what we want no matter what it takes.

Rumor has it we are going to hire 3000 new employees? And have 900 bid jobs open up.If that happens I guarantee there won't be any equal pay.Im betting the Co ask to raise the percentage to at least 40% ..And maybe even the 3 tier bullshit..

Strike? Never happen. Not even if a tentative agreement failed to be ratified by the rank-and-file. The current contract would simply be extended and they would tell us continue to report to work as they try again. The 21st century IUAW has no more balls than does UAW Local 826.
And remember... This time around Scott Eskridge is the co-chair of the IUAW negotiating committee.
What a sick, sick joke.

With what you said about hiring, AND IF....the stuff about Michigan getting a small truck/bronco I can almost assure there's gonna be a third tier. There's gonna be the change in health insurance Williams has been talking about, and I agree an attempt to increase number of tier 2.... I hope nobody has their heart on a great contract. It's so disappointing. I truly feel for those just starting out at one of the automakers, not just Ford. I can't imagine starting out the way things are today.

"if" we strike, it will only be token & wont last long. Our leaders are in bed with Ford, they are making money hand over fist. Jimmy Settles said "we have to negotiate smart, we have to have the big picture in mind & not just today, we cant hurt the company, While that's a legitimate statement coming from someone honest, that really cares about the membership, coming from him it means get ready for more of the same. Union will say, we'll take this to the membership, it will be so terrible they will vote it down, we will call a strike for a couple days then we will accept what we both already were willing to agree to. That way we looked like we stood up for them & got a better deal, which still will be horrible. That's the only scenario I see us striking in. The only way we get anyone's attention is to wildcat strike, but we don't have enough willing to do that.

No strike, at worst the current contract will be extended and we will continue working as normal. They will prolly offer us a bonus up front in the neighborhood of $6,000-$8,000 and my suggestion would be to vote it down. Bonuses get taxed at a much higher percentage than hourly wages so the Feds will take well over half right off the bat. So, best case scenario, if you bring home $4,000 and you spread that out over the life of a 4 year contract working 40hrs a week (which none of us do) that only amounts to a $.48 per hour "raise". You would be much, much better off agreeing to a $.50 an hour raise. That way all your overtime accumulates that much more and at time and a half or double time to boot.

Agree, but.50/hr isn't a drop in the bucket to what we should be getting, ( Im sure you were just using as an example)

I just read an article about how well the unions retiree health ins. Is doing and theirs talks of letting them take over the active employees ins................. Does that mean that ford would have to give us the money it says it gives to ins. to us instead. You know they say with the salary, ins and retirement package it's around 58.00 an hour. Woo hoo I can't wait to get that. lol or I'm striking. finance.yahoo.com/news/uaw-benefits-failure-wasnt-213310866.html?.tsrc=applewf

That number includes the cost of the retirees factored in. It is not an accurate comparison by any means.
