I am a new hire and have a few questions... So we know our strike vote was 98+% for yes but what about other locals? How many others voted yes. With this being a national contract wouldn't all locals have to vote yes for the union to use it in bargaining?

With this being a national contract wouldn't all locals have to vote yes for the union to use it in bargaining? From the UAW-Ford Facebook page: ***** Message from National Ford Department ***** The National Ford Department has received strike authorization vote results from all locations and the membership has voted 98.3% in favor of (Yes). The overwhelming margin is a tremendous vote of confidence for the national negotiating team, as it allows the UAW International Executive Board to call for a strike if negotiations with Ford Motor Company breakdown or the company fails to bargain in good faith. “I am pleased with both the high margin of support and high turnout as nearly 80% of our membership took part in the voting process,” said Jimmy Settles, UAW Vice President and Director, National Ford Department. “We look forward to continuing our negotiations with Ford Motor Company and I thank our membership for their input and for standing in solidarity with us.” The strike authorization vote is held in accordance with the UAW Constitution as outlined in Article 50, Section 1(a).

We were hiring by the week before negotiations started. The only way I see us hiring before the contract ends is if these new hires keep quitting and getting disciplined. Which in that case could be next week.
