So.... Does anyone know how many transfers came down from Michigan? One showed up in bodyshop today with jam 1 1995 sen. Didn't know they hired on a holiday. Lol I didn't know anyone was coming here and of course he showed up in bodyshop. I hope his name was already on the list to come to body. Ahead of anyone else from other departments.

Shame on you critics for not welcoming UNION BROTHERS and SISTERS. How would you feel, if you were in their place ? We are all UAW workers. All of us, not some of us but ALL of us. treat them as a union BROTHER not a union CRUCFIER. or are you not Christian enough living in the land of the southern baptist hypocrites.

Bad enough a guy/gal has to transfer from their home to come here, pack up their family, leave family & friends behind, have their kids leave friends and schools. After all that they have to take shit from coworkers about how unfair it is to them...pray it never happens to any of us, couldnt imagine going through al that and then listenjng to the crap from coworkers every day. All they are trying to do is support their family, arent they entitled to that right? Wouldnt you want the same right?
Welcome to KTP brothers & sisters, hope for your sake its a short stay and you get back home soon.

Very well said, all some of us wanted was to support our family in the best way possible, I am sure if we knew of all the animosity from our fellow Union members some of us might have had second thoughts about relocating.

I never have understood it . " u don't know how hard it is to move ur family blah blah" first of all no one ever has to . You choose to cuz u can't make a good living anywhere else. Every good job I've ever had has closed and I never had the chance to transfer. I wouldn't have anyway. Ky is a great place to live. I don't mind them coming. I don't think they should bring their plant seniority tho. Seniority towards retirement yes, towards job/shift selection no.

Eventually you'll be happy you have it

Lap got transfers from between 30-50 different plants counting parts plants. There are a lot of good ones but they are getting a bad name because of all the bad ones. We got every plants reject. FMLA is being abused like never before. There are 6 on my line alone with FMLA.

Lot of pent up anger, but you are right, I had a choice to come down here, and for my family and myself it was the right call, but it has been close to 20 years since some of us arrived, time to focus that energy on positive things in life.

If you worked in a dept for 20 + yrs and was hoping for dayshift (finally) and heard there where transfers coming you would have pent up anger as well!

Anyone that has 20 plus years seniority that isnt on days has no one to blame but themselves, 20 plus will put you on days in damn near every department in this plant. If a transfer cant bitch because as you say "they decided to come down here, they werent forced" should you be crying about having 20 plus years in and not on days? Your not forced to stay wherever you are, you have decided to stay there.

Transfers, shmansfers. All plants were sold out on this issue long ago. With the first transfers allowed from plants that weren't closing of losing shifts, the path was set. So enjoy, because its not going anywhere. To all those coming, whatever, do your job.
For the bitching about the FMLA, same thing. Willy signed it into law and its been downhill ever since. And wont get any better. For every 1 legit use of FMLA, Im guessing there are at least 15 shady ass uses of it. See it every day, and more and more new hires are jumping right in on it.
Just as its always been, the only people that pay the price for these shitty practices are the suckers that show up every day and do their jobs. My suggestion, get on a bid where you don't have to deal with the out and out pieces of dog shit that work in the plant. You may not get the shift you desire, but at least you wont have to interact with those turds.
Im just trying to keep my head down and knock out the last 10 years I have in this hole. Then Ill never darken the doorway of a Ford plant or union hall again.

I'm with you on that..The only shit about transfers that really fucks me up is the LAP one.Their plant closed for a year ,so they get laid off or come to KTP.But when it reopens the have the option to stay???Same local? If that's the case we should be able to bid on each plants bids?Somebody pulled a good ol boy move on that one...But I do have lots of LAP friends here and wouldn't wanna miss knowing them..I just hope ford buys me out or 25 and out anything .Im ready for a kid to move up and me to go to the beach!!!

My boss told me that KTP has 39% of its workforce on fmla. These people can take off any day of the week without repercussions. How the hell do you run a plant like that and will it give us problems in the future with new products?

My boss told me that KTP has 39% of its workforce on fmla. These people can take off any day of the week without repercussions. How the hell do you run a plant like that and will it give us problems in the future with new products? I seriously doubt that number. That's almost 4 out of 10, and of all the people I've worked with, in many areas, every shift ( I get bored and move around a lot). I know of very few who have fmla. The problem is not fmla. The problem has not been awol. The problem has been too few work force. Can't get a day off? In the last two years a large percentage of us are getting our 4th week of vacation, and that group will continue to grow quickly over the next 2-3 years to include the majority of the plant, but man power is not being increased to cover that extra vacation time. Material Handling did not get extra part year drivers this year. We don't have enough bodies, and we have piss poor management of the man power we do have in many areas. As for transfers and seniority: When I hired in, in Atlanta, our class was run by a guy who worked nights and did our class on Day shift. Everyone was concerned " when can I go to days". At that time a year was holding trim on days. This guy had 28 years, and could not hold days in his classification. Some people got good bid jobs on day shift in under two years, but when the plant closed there where people in trim on nights with close to 10 years seniority who not only couldn't hold days, but had no light at the end of the tunnel. They would be where they where for ten more years, or longer. That's just the luck of the draw. And it is just luck. We all applied at the same time, and got start dates by luck. Only problem I ever had with it was when some girl, who spent less than six months on a crap job in trim before moving on to a better job, tried some crap about " oh, I don't do that, I all ready put my time in". I will never understand how she could look a man in the eye who has paid much more in "doing his time" and say that. What we have ain't perfect, but it's as fair as it will ever be. If I've got more time than you, it's out of luck. I'm not better or more deserving. Those with more than me are the same. At the 20 year mark, 22 years is huge seniority, but really not that much more time than 20. It seems to me that our bulk is in the 18-22 range. So, there's always going to be some people with a great deal of time who are just on the tail end of that who get screwed...........and there will be a lot of very low people on the better jobs real soon behind them
