I just don't think u should transfer to a plant without being displaced and get to keep all ur seniority in the new plant. Doesn't make me somehow anti seniority. Seniority is a way of settling issues and trying to keep things fair. All good. But say I work in anyplant USA. An opening comes at ktp. I've got 20 years in and been on a bid on nights for 10 years.i decide to come to ktp. Presumably , since I'm not displaced, someone will be hired back at anyplant and everyone that was below me moves up a spot. Meanwhile, back at ktp I have voluntarily transferred and now I can elbow my way in front of ktp people who have been getting knocked back for years by all types of transfers. Is that your idea of fair? It's not mine. Just my opinion.i just betcha if u had to start again at the bottom a lot of people would think really hard before voluntarily transferring.

Most of the transfers I've worked with have been among the WORST employees I've ever worked with anywhere. The first bunch being the worst of all, I'm sure you all remember them. If the shoe had been on the other foot and we moved up there and has time on all if them. How warm a reception do you think we would have gotten ?

We have people that work at KTP that want to come to LAP, and vise versa, but our local never opened it up to all who were interested. Only Return to Home Plant the last time but they opened it up to out of zone people at LAP with everything from 2 to 34 years seniority. The kicker is most of them were from plants that were not shutting down. When they arrived at LAP, most of the highest seniority refused to work on the line. They bitched and moaned that they had time in and didn't think its was fair they were treated this way. Guess what genius? You opted to leave your plant to come here for what was opened. Shit pisses me off till no end. There are a few good people but most are whiney asses that need to go back because they hate it here so much.

Do people that transfer even though they are working get the $40,000.00 moving allowance also?

Do people that transfer even though they are working get the $40,000.00 moving allowance also? Yes they do. That's another BS part of it. Joe Blow who has 20yrs comes from a plant not closing because they need to cut heads. He comes instead of the low man because he volunteers to and he gets to bring his seniority and get that big moving check. Some of them have been to 4-5 plants playing that game. They get to carry their time with them and jump up the seniority list and get the good jobs, plus get paid to do so. We can't get a raise for 10 damn years but Ford hands out moving money to people who volunteer to move.

Most I've seen transferred because of the money. I know one that's done it twice. Looking to do it again. Always broke too. Hmmm

Boo, hoo, hoo! Just shut up and do your job. It's in the contract. Senority goes with you. Cut off date is 10/29/1984. If you don't like it, find another job.

Every one's situation is different, but that money, spread out over two years in three checks that's taxed as capital gains, just made my move here from Atlanta a break even proposition.

Bad enough a guy/gal has to transfer from their home to come here, pack up their family, leave family & friends behind, have their kids leave friends and schools. After all that they have to take shit from coworkers about how unfair it is to them...pray it never happens to any of us, couldnt imagine going through al that and then listenjng to the crap from coworkers every day. All they are trying to do is support their family, arent they entitled to that right? Wouldnt you want the same right? Welcome to KTP brothers & sisters, hope for your sake its a short stay and you get back home soon. I was in that same position 11 years ago. Still haven't been accepted 100%. Was placed in old trim and given the worse job there. No one would hold it and tried to use me as a scapegoat. Supertendent told me daily to go back home and take care of my kids-of course where it would not be heard. Should have taped it, but I had the old fashioned cell and didn't even think of doing that. Please treat these new people better than that.

Ok last week heard that same rumor about 170 from Michigan and Todd Adair said only the 16 came and that's it. I heard it again today but a friend texted and said they just talked to 20 from Michigan walking through the bodyshop. REALLY.

16 production and 1 skilled trade came from Michigan...stick with what Adair tells you instead of "a friend".
