Maturing relationship between the UAW & the auto industry, and an Alignment of interests?? Marchionne wanted to be the target company? UAW Vice President Norwood Jewell believes the UAW got workers a great deal! UAW really really wants to co-op health insurance for workers. Possibly closing the gap (could mean raises, but not to current top out wage)for tier II. Experts think this could take 8 years--that is another contract in which everything could change or disappear! More profit sharing for tier 1. Urging all union brothers & sisters to think long and hard about this contract. A lump sum bonus happens only one time. Profit sharing happens in the 'good times' which possibly would not be given to employees if the economy takes a turn for the worse. A raise means more money in our pockets over the long haul. Not saying this is bad, as we don't know what is actually in the contract proposal yet. Please think about your future and the future of your fellow employees at Ford very carefully. We all have to abide by and live with the outcome of each contract.

I will tell you what the worst part of these deals will be, the unknown/lowlights...which is always an issue, but I believe it will be a much bigger issue this time...what comes down the road mid contract regarding health care....they're leaving health care open ended to be discussed further and we are signing deals without concrete knowledge of where we are heading regarding health care in 2018.

My .2 cents...I will not vote yes for any "open ended" language, i dont care if its about what wattage light bulbs will be used in the shitter. After getting our heads handed to us/lied to last time about concessions being reinstated once the company came back to profitability you would have to be a madman to accept any language open ended.

Well didn't I ready that Chrysler/Fiat are to further discuss healthcare to find the best deal for everyone? Sounds like they're going to work on it before the Cadillac Tax starts in 2018...they don't care about it right now...in 2018, they will care BIG time. Hoping they don't open up the contracts then...they need to finalize everything now as you stated or it should be an easy no vote.

One of the most radical changes in the new deal could be a new way to address health care costs that was inspired by the Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association, or VEBA, that controls health care costs for 860,000 UAW retirees and dependents.
“(Williams’) suggestion to effectively look at a co-op arrangement to rely on what we have learned through the VEBA structure… and really benefit a much larger population in terms of purchasing capability and administration process is something which is very close to us. I think it’s embedded in the spirit of the agreement and I sincerely hope it gets implemented,” Marchionne said without providing direct details if a co-op pool is included in the deal.

Health care is definitely being addressed and if it turns out to be this co-op. we need to receive substantial guaranteed money. I've said this before but want to be sure people know how much the companies will be offloading. Ford payed out 550 million in 2011 and 800 million 2013 for active employee healthcare. Once the co op is created the company will be free from these raising cost forever. This change in health care will likely be a step down from the current agreement. If they expect us to accept this we must receive a huge guaranteed portion of these saving!

They will all get nominated to sit on the board of this coop and receive another $30+k each year of our money. To watch it run out of money or we lose health benefits to keep it a float.

Simple fix for the healthcare: A. Big discounts for those employees who don't smoke and are in great shape and that exercise at least 4 days a week.
B. Those who are obese and or smoke and are lazy will pay a "Lard Ass" tax to help carry their ass to the emergency room from the Golden Corral Buffet.

I am, and I don't smoke . But I have had some serious health issues. I hate smoking. It killed my mother, but some people will always smoke. There are fewer smokers now than ever so if smoking is the problem insurance should be cheaper than ever now right? Right.

Marchionne wants profit sharing to make up a good portion of the difference between tier 1 and tier 2 employees instead of raising tier 2 much closer or equal to tier 1 pay. Also says that when times are good employees get profit sharing checks, but when they think things are bad the company keeps all monies & employees receive nothing. At least with a raise you are guaranteed a certain amount per hour worked. No guessing how much you should make in any given year. Should be able to calculate expenses on 40 hour work week instead of trying to guess & estimate how much and if you will get a profit sharing check each year. VEBA seems pretty much on the table for UAW to control. Any one think monthly premium/payment would be coming down the pike? UAW seems pretty proud of the offer so far. Hope the Ford-UAW agreement is much better than what has been reported so far. A raise is on every paycheck, profit sharing is once a year >>in good times<< and a bonus is a one time thing. Wish all UAW workers good luck and good fortune during these negotiations.

I'm fine with the profit sharing idea but the formula needs to be doubled. Get a $16k profit sharing check in the years like we have had the last few and I'm fine with not getting a raise and taking a chance against the bad years.

This person is a relative of a high up rank and file Union member(Wouldn't dare name them but it's not hard to figure)...They can go to the gym,,,play basketball at the union hall anytime they get a chance...But when it comes to working on the line..they can only do selective cardboard(whining and bitchin the whole way) Shouldn't they get the worthless sewer dweller scum discount?...A Tarc transfer ticket to 6th and Cedar I have worked with guys who worked out every day and they are quite worthless...and I have worked with Roly-Poly's that could work like a suffering bastard laying in there getting them trucks done... So how about a shitbag culling program instead?
