I would think that after the House votes for the H.R. 6201: Families First CoronaVirus Response Act.(later Friday night) That major corporation etc will start announcing their schedules of shut down or stay at home time for employees.

Best advice my grandpa ever gave me was “don’t take financial advice from broke people” i would add “don’t take medical advice from an auto worker” right up there with his advice. Stay safe people

. An email sent to all ford employees on Friday by Jim Hackett, CEO of Ford Motor Company. Note the section that I have highlighted:
Team,
As you probably saw, the World Health Organization this week declared the coronavirus a global pandemic, which is defined as “worldwide spread” of a new disease. We are committed to regularly updating you on the steps Ford is taking to minimize risks to our people and our business.
We have been studying, planning for and acting on the potential threats of this virus during the past months. Thankfully, the effect so far on Ford employees has been very limited. In recent days, we’ve concluded the coronavirus issue has taken on a different dimension – and we need to be proactive to keep our people safe and help limit the spread of the virus in the communities where we live and work.
To that end, beginning Monday, March 16, we are announcing that much of our Ford workforce, including agency and purchased service people, in North America, Europe, International Markets Group and South America, will be asked to work remotely until further notice. Exceptions will be only for roles that are 1) business-critical and 2) cannot be done effectively outside a Ford location – such as those working in manufacturing facilities, parts distribution centers and sales positions.
Since the coronavirus issue is rapidly diminishing in China and our team there already has begun to return to work, this action does not apply to our team in China.
Please plan to join a virtual Global Team Huddle at 11 a.m. (Dearborn time) today for more information. You can access the meeting at this link or through @fordonline.
I know this decision will prompt questions and you can expect additional communications from your leaders in the coming days. We thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we manage this dynamic situation. Please continue to check @fordonline regularly for coronavirus updates and FAQs. Please submit any questions or concerns to corona19@ford.com.
In the short term, when you leave at the end of the day, please prepare to be away from the office by taking home your laptop computers, corporate mobile devices, chargers and any personal items you may need while you’re working away from the office. Those employees who need to continue coming to work in Ford facilities will be notified.
Regardless of the business-critical nature or location of your role, in the event a case is identified with a Ford employee, you can be confident that supervisors in every Ford facility around the world will: • Direct anyone with a confirmed case of coronavirus to self-quarantine at home and continue to get medical attention until cleared to return to work by a physician • Identify any others who had direct contact in the workplace with a colleague who has a confirmed case of the infection, instruct them to self-quarantine at home for 14 days and seek medical attention • Identify employees who had close contact with anyone who was in direct contact with the affected employee and advise them to leave work and get advice from their local medical professional before returning, including watching for symptoms of the virus • Report a confirmed case of coronavirus of a Ford workforce member – for example, in the U.S., by calling 1-800-344-1048 • Close the specific facility where there was exposure to a confirmed coronavirus case for at least 24 hours so the building can be disinfected
Our top priority is keeping our employees, customers and other stakeholders safe while doing whatever is reasonable to keep Ford running. So far, our global team has done an excellent job following guidelines established early on to do just that.
Finally, please prioritize protecting the health and safety of yourself and any family members by adhering to health precautions from the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, including social distancing and practicing strict hygiene. We also need to do everything we can to keep operating as effectively as possible. So, although most of us will be working outside of the office, please work together to manage our business.
Thank you for all you do for Ford Motor Company every day.
Jim

Another thing some of you idiots are saying. " its a liberal agenda". Get your head outta your ass.

I must have missed where people were cheering for more or any flu related deaths........... Its the flu and even when it "passes" it will always be around and mutate.
Sounds like 8 out of 10 never know they have it or any symptoms / 2 out of 10 have issues while 80% recover fine.
(Use common sense, hygiene and life goes on)

How about if give you 100 m&ms and tell you that 20 of them will kill you. How many are you going to eat? Educate yourself, you really think the whole world would be on lockdown if it was just the flu? Unbelievable

You have to admit it is pretty amazing. Right or wrong, real or media induced frenzy. The whole world is shutting down. Not FOMOCO, not KTP. This place truly is incredible.

I think the real worry for most is there’s no vaccine for it.When you have an underlying health concern anyways.Im 100% sure the media has everyone scared BUT I do believe all the expert doctors and scientists when they say it’s a real pandemic.Google the flu of 1918

Unbelievable Everyone will be exposed to the #19 FLU virus at some point and MOST people will never know it or have any major issues. Its not going away and will be around in its current form or mutate to something else. There is a long list of diseases and virus that are around (smallpox , measles, chicken pox, common cold and endless flu virus) that never go away and so pick one OR MORE feel free to STAY. paranoid. The bottom line is its just another strain of flu virus that is hard on people with underlying conditions. As to the worldwide panic its on par with reporting people killed in airplane crashes and never reporting on the hundreds of thousands of people NOT killed in a crash. Now, back to the panic.............
