I know that being recalled to our home plant goes by seniority but what I was worried about is, When it is time to start building the new product will people at kansas city with more seniority get to come here before me. If they get to follow the escape here and I am forced to chicago is it possible that we could get stuck in Chicago. Or if we dont go to chicago we could loose out on recall rights by being bumped by others when lap has all the jobs filled. It would suck not to go and then not get called back because of kansas city transfers or get stuck in chicago waiting for a job to open in louisville. Does anyone know if this is possible or likely. Does kansas city have a new product after the escape comes here.? thanks

People from Kansas City get to come to LAP before anyone currently at LAP...and then after they come, the rest come back by seniority (everyone currently working at LAP, transfers at KTP, and ILO)...one big list is what I was told. Of course it could all be wrong.

ScottR@KTP, correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that the Escape was coming to Louisville just as an overflow vehicle to take pressure off Kansas City. But they were still going to build it at Kansas City as well.
So, when the Escape comes here will they be transferring from Kansas City with it?

Yes...I was told by the upper echelon (UAW) at LAP that workers at KCAP are the first to be offered employment at LAP when their product moves down here. I am guessing they are getting another product eventually. In the last agreement, KCAP was gonna close...but the I-UAW was able to get them a guaranteed product...which is yet to be announced.

We will probably start up and run before they ever go down. Just like Chigago and Louisville are doing.

They will get to follow if it is called "Escape". If it is the "Kuga", they don't. Just ask those from Atlanta.....

They are coming...but in small numbers I imagine. If they believe a product is coming, why leave. So expect way less than 100 to come from KCAP.

I will be shocked if KCAP people will get to LAP. KCAP will run Escape through model yr 2011, LAP will be up and running by then.

does anybody know how many jobs @ LAP there will be after the retool and how many shifts? I know it's way too early but wondering if any numbers are being thrown around.

I'm hearing if 3 shifts...about 2000-2100?...so if 2 shifts, I would guess about 1500 at best.

Scott is right.people from KCAP have rights to transfer with their operations.Just as those on ILO or working at LAP currently, have the right to transfer with there product to Chicago.Only problem is,once you transfer with your operation, there is no coming back. Our Union is working with I-U.A.W. on getting some form of a loan to allow you to return from Chicago, like people that went to K.T.P.On a loan type basis.Because we have a new product coming to our plant. It's more less a chance for those on I.L.O. to have a option to work. From what I understand, the loan is at least 6 months. You will not be eligible to return until that is fulfilled.Could be longer, guess we have to wait and see.I suggest everybody who wants to go to Chicago review this in writing before making a decision on weather or not they make the move. The contract,as is ,basically states that if you transfer with your operation(Unit) to another plant, there is no coming back. You don't have recall rights.

If you have time on someone working at KTP, you should get your chance. Hang in there...the future is bright.

This will get interesting. I dont see how KCAP will have a chance to follow their product when their product wont be done until after LAP is filled up and running. So, what you are telling me is that KCAP will have a chance to come to LAP then that opens up spots in KCAP? Why would they let people from KCAP move to LAP then have openings at KCAP because they let people transfer to LAP? I'm scratching my head on this one.....

Unless I am hearing something else.I was told that they would have a right to follow their unit but didn't expect many to come,at all.Maybe some of this has changed. ?I specifically asked this in a meeting for ILO's and Union told me that they could, explained it.Unless things have changed, that is the 1st thing on the heirarchy.Said that there would be less than 60 people probably.

Guys don't forget...When the LAP people @ KTP go back to LAP after the retool KTP will need to replace them. That could be up to 400 or so people... That could allow people to come back from Chi town if there's zero room at LAP

after scratching my head some more I've done more thinking....how can KCAP people be the first people into LAP when there are people laid off from LAP?

Don't know how many times I have to type this, but here we go again...people from KCAP are the FIRST ones being offered a spot at LAP after retooling. PERIOD...FACT...end of conversation. LOL ok....one last thought then I'm done, I promise! So KCAP gets the first shot at LAP. Let's say 1000 people from KCAP choose to move to LAP. That opens up 1000 spots at KCAP, correct? Each person gets $30 grand to move, ($35 grand, depending upon who you talk to and what day it is) thats a grand total of $60 million bucks Ford pays out in moving allowance. You got people laid off from LAP, and Ford dosent have to pay them no money to get called back to their home plant, why pay them $30 grand each to move to KCAP? Like I said...its gonna be very interesting how this plays out especially when KCAP dosen't have anybody on layoff. Ain't gonna happen.....

The only people I see coming from KCAP are the ones that may have family here. KCAP has the C-platform coming, the F-150, and a bright future.
Why would they follow a product that would be decreasing in sales in the future when they will have the C-platform and a product guarantee?
I only see a few coming at best. When it is said and done, it would have been much ado about nothing......

With KCAP getting a new product, they won't leave. I don't believe Louisville is "the city" people have been dying to move to. If KCAP was not getting a product, I would expect about 3-400 of them would move...maybe more, but I don't see it. I've said all along that many of the ILOs may end up at KTP when it's all said and done...but as long as they are working, it should not matter. I expect about 25 from KCAP, @ 200 from KTP (unless they open up transfer to whole plant) out of the over 400 that went over last year, then the rest...which only totals about 1600-1700. If 3 crew later, they will actually need about 400...so LAP may get their chance to hire some new wage workers after all.
