The paper was the weekly update, and it states chicago Robo call You will be receiving an automatic phone call/ message over the next week from Ford/Labor relations about signing up for a transfer of operations to chicago with the explorer. The international UAW and Ford are approving the language and return to home rights this week. If everything is agreed to, calls will begin monday and run till wednesday at the end of the shift. Thanks. We were gonna move back to the Ville anyway, so it works out pretty good, plus my wife hates her job and wants to go back to school.

From UAWLAP.org: • Employees at the Louisville Assembly Plant, both active and members on ILO should be receiving an automatic phone call/message next week from Ford Motor Co. about signing up for a "Transfer of Operations" (Article VIII Section 24 (b)) to Chicago with the Explorer. Along with the International Union, I am working to resolve any issue by Tuesday before the Union Meeting. As soon as approval is given, the robo calls will begin with the posting following for a three day period. Also, we will post the information on the www.uawlap.org web site. All non-skilled, laid-off employees are eligible to transfer. If you do not receive a phone call, please see what number is on file in Labor Relations and make sure your information is correct. A Voluntary Posting for Job Opportunities under (Appendix N, Step 3), at Chicago will be posted in the near future. In a Voluntary Posting employees continue to be eligible for Article VIII, Section 1(b) Return to Basic Unit or Appendix O – Return Home provisions unless the employee selects the Enhanced Relocation (Art. IX) section 28 (b)1. Again, will have more information at the next union meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at Gettelfinger Hall. Times are 12pm and 6pm. In Solidarity, Steven M Stone

Hey guys, Best of luck in Chi-town. I am an Atlanta transfere and know what ya'll are about to go through. My advice is to find a rent by the week motel like extended stay in a GOOD part of town for the first few weeks your there. It won't be ideal, but it will let you get the feel for the town before you sign a lease for an apartment. Much better than ending up in the wrong place or paying too much in rent. Hope ya'll make it back to LAP real soon.
