Just to throw my 2 cents into the Cry Baby session. I'm not sure how the language reads regarding the ice machines, but it seems the company has met their obligation providing ice machines... Perhaps it would help with the tears if language were added about keeping them in working order. It really tickles me how we have "negotiated" benefits with absolutely no accountability for the company to maintain that benefit. But wait, that's the UAW's job. I'll put blame where blame is due... Thanks Ford for the ice machines. And to the UAW, thanks for enforcing our negotiated benefit, You Suck...

bottom line is the company won't allocate the parts or the overtime to fix the ice machines...period.

Turbo, what helps is that people keep telling us so we send notes out to make sure that they get fixed each time they break down. So no, I'm not riding around daily checking every ice machine in the plant. If the one in your is broke which I'm sure it will be, then tell your boss and every other person you see.

Lets think for a moment shall we.............. While the committee people are out checking on their constituents (or are they in the AC somewhere?) they could easily stop by the ice machines or pose the question of which ones are not working to the line workers. Just a thought.

Little insight about icemachines; there used to be 6 pipefitters that took care of HVAC, icemachines, and plumbing issues, now there are 2. When Central started to be controlled by paint dept. the maintenance in the main plant fell way off. We have lost people to attrition, medicals etc. and they will not replace them. The one guy who does the plumbing was on vac. last week, they do not cover anyone. So I got plumbing calls plus working on rooftop AC's and icemachines. If you think it was hot in the plant, come to the roof. Hell I'm not supposed to work on the roof by myself! Speaking of the heat in the plant, they have not maintained the exhaust fans on the roof, they started repairing them Friday, had our people and contractors on them this weekend. They have gotten a few of them running, but they let it go for so long it will take a while to get to them all. Anyway if I get help tomorrow we will install a new ice bin at F-1 breakroom. If your machine is down call me on Radio A-3, Harold Colvin. Later

Exhausts fans should be a given...I can't believe they are not functioning properly.

For the record, there is only ONE millwright assigned to take care of the equipment on the roof of the main plant. ONE MAN... 5 days a week. I'm just sayin'.

as a tradesmen i can state that these tradesmen speak the truth...bottom line as I have said before, the company won't provide the parts, manpower or overtime needed to fix these problems in a quick timeline. The union can get a list from you of all the issues but they remain on the list because we don't have enough manpower to get these issues fixed in a timely manner....period!

Harold is a stand up guy and a former Union rep. Thanks Harold for the help. Y
ou are welcome KTPgurl though it isn't a perfect fix nor working smoothly.
Once we heard about the lack of working exhaust fans we got that ball rolling. If any of the trades guys know of an ice machine or exhaust fan issue that isn't fixed just because they don't want to pay OT please let me know so I can fix that issue.

If your ice machine isnt working, or, to many are coming to use it and it is not producing enough ice:
Your solution is this: Tell your team leader to call health and safety, soon after, you should receive a large cooler of ice. It worked for my team last week.
About fans, I heard they are working on it, and my fan is on the list, but who knows when it will be done. I asked for one last year and was told they didnt have any, though there are 4 fans behind my job that are not used, but they wont turn them around, just prefer them to sit and collect dust I suppose.
