Our Ice machine between pre-delivery & U-trim not working AGAIN. It is broke more than not, and even when it does work, dayshift and body shop get it all before night shift gets to work. How many more are not working throughout the plant?

The one I know of in stamping has been broken since I've been over there...which is before the NCAA Tourney.

Odds are pickle doesn't like the vendors using the ice from the plant. Mentioning it on here may be a good way to get management to crackdown and stop anyone from selling drinks. just in time for summer.
Thanks in advance pickle.

We will be trying to get more ice machines. You just can't keep the damned things working. They are made to be in a motel hallway where 10 people a day get a cup of ice and ours certainly see more use than they were built for.

I know at lap we would unplug them for about an hour and they would soon start working again

It was hot as hell today and the ice machine decided to not work. I think it's bullshit that we have to work in this kind of heat without ice. Were they not serviced or checked to make sure we wouldn't have to go through this. I'm sure they will be working again soon.....like December.

What a suprise, no ice today again. But there was an additional cooler set aside with ice. Problem is, there wasn't enough and everyones filthy hands were in the cooler. Really didn't want to have ice with God knows what's in that cooler. People don't wash their hands in the rest room which I witness everyday or filth and sweat from working during these hot days. Is there not a better system to make sure we can get clean ice. Plus, since we can't get ice, people are now taking the lids of the Gatorade coolers and sticking there dirty, sweaty, shitty hands in the coolers to get ice. I think it needs to stop and it needs to stop now you nasty bastards. I really don't want to drink your shit. Why can't the company or the union get this taken care of.

Would someone please get Ronnie his own personal cooler, sanitize it, and fill it with ice from a mountain stream ,preferably in Alaska, where it may be pure enough?

I'll probably get bashed, but here goes.
As a UAW negotiated benefit, I absolutely agree that the ice machines should be working. We bargained for, and won, an agreement from the company to provide those machines.
That being said....some people act as if you are risking your life or something by coming to work without properly operating ice machines. And keep in mind...the company is obligated to provide ice machines, not necessarily ice to each operator. Clean, properly working water fountains (and access to them) are more critical in this heat.
Here's an idea.....while we fight to get the machines working, feel free to bring your own ice from home.

Thanks ar15. I would at least appreciate it. I can survive and I do bring my ice in the morning but it just pisses me off that people think it's ok to stick their damn hands in the coolers. Ok, I'm done.

Let it out ronniebass...could not agree more. You could not pay me to drink from any of these moldy, nasty ass coolers or even touch any ice they bring to me. I bring my drinks in my cooler with my ice from my house. I would suggest try freezing some bottles of water or gatorade and drinking on them as they thaw...and you can even put the frozen bottle on the back of you neck, wrists, etc... But as landry pointed out...there are many things we fight for and get in our local agreement which the company gets to not be held responsible for...time for the union to hold someone accountable.

@ Ronnie & Scott, I totally agree about some our nasty coworkers, and those coolers. By the way, I don't drink the gatorade but if I saw someone's hand in the cooler, I'd have a big problem with that person.

My favorite is when someone takes their plastic drink bottle that they've drank from all day and sticks the spigot into it to fill up!

The problem we have with the machines is that they were never designed to make the amount of ice we need or be used the amount of times we need them to be used. So they break down constantly, as we all know.
The type of ice machines we have are made for hotel use where the may dispense ice 40 or 50 times a day. We are wayyyyyy past that. The ones designed to make the amount and meet the usage requirements we need are the big open ice chest type ice machines then you get back into the sanitary factors.
The coolers are by no means a great fix for a broken ice machine but we wanted YOU to have the opportunity to decide if you wanted to use that ice or not til teh machines parts get here.
What was negotiated was the money to buy the ice machine that is there. We will have to negotiate for newer ones and more of them, as these are reaching the end of their lives. It HAS to be more expensive to keep fixing the current ones than buying new ones. And looking for types that would be better made for our usage levels.
We will keep getting them fixed as fast as we can.

I mean, what the hell are we supposed to do?? Take care of ourselves? Fuck that! Where's my concierge!??! I thought you shitheels were against Socialism???

I bring my own ice and water. But even in a thermal cup with this heat it doesn't last 8 plus hours. Fix the freaking ice machines already. I don't care wether they work the rest of the year but for 3 months can't we get them running? I saw where the team leaders used to make the Gatorade and clean the Thermos...it's foul. Roaches. I'm not drinking it.

By rule, before every shift I work I dip my hands in the thermos coolers to relieve the pain in my hands. Just be glad my feets don't hurt.

If people would be a little easier when they try and get ice out of those machines, maybe just maybe they would not break down every other day.
I see people all the time jamming there big ass cups and big ass square tubs up in there trying to get ice then when it does not work for the next tub they get pissed and start kicking it. Well I'm here to tell you that isen't going to fix it you fucking moron...

And the one in the upstairs body breakroom at EE39 is broken AGAIN. No ice today. Another thing is if all the people selling sodas would BRING THEIR OWN FREAKING ICE then they could quit emptying the few ice machines we have so others can get some.
