Anyone know what the criteria is for getting Gatorade passed out to the peeps that are working ? I realize it's shutdown time so mostly only skilled trades here, but dang it's HOT. Almost like we are second class citizens or something.

welcome to skilled trades...nobody cares what the temperature is when production isn't running....plus most of the time the bigfoot system is down. Enjoy the heat...and take more safety breaks.

No stranger to the conditions we face in skilled trades compared to production folks. Just thought that what's good for the goose should be good for the gander too. Really seems like this would be a HEALTH & SAFETY if I ever saw one. I mean, seriously, how many times have I heard a committee man call about a water fountain not working & called it a H&S ? lol.
For the record, I did finally see a couple of gatorade tubs out in body shop late this afternoon, however by then I was already soaked to the bone & feeling the effects from the heat. Kevlar sleeves didn't help a thing either.

Spoke with the company & hourly safety men last night about this. Danny Huffman said the gatorade was NOT contractual. Not what I've always heard & I hope one of the union folks will chime in here & set the record straight. Kevin Glass was with Danny & he basically had no comment. However, Danny said we were welcome to come get the gatorade mix, ice , water etc...he wasn't going to deliver it. So if you're out in the plant please pass the word that gatorade is available when it's this hot. BTW , it was 87* at 5:30 this morning. It's gonna be another HOT one folks. Be safe & take plenty of safety breaks.

Though it is true Gatorade is not contractual , it is an agreement (outside the contract) that we have as well as it is a company policy.
It was agreed to have gatorade, jugs and Ice available to you guys and they will not give you grief for someone going and getting it for your group.
If you need gatroade call , Danny, Brett, or Matt on the security channel and let them know you need to come up and get it.
As for delivering, it originaly wasn't delivered to production. The TL's got it, but it became a logistic cluster so they now pay people to deliver and mix. With the smaller amount of people there during shutdown they would not agree to pay someone to just deliver gatorade.
They should have made you aware of the availability at your start up meetings.

Thanks for chiming in Kessinger. YES, I agree that they should have made us aware that gatorade was available for us. The DAILY Safety talk would have been an ideal time to communicate the message to us too. But apparently that did not happen as I have yet to find a single tradesperson that was aware that we could get gatorade during the shutdown. Hopefully this will not be an issue in the future. Just a shame that it was DAY 10 of shutdown before we got any relief.

No problem ktpelec. Just trying to get the word out, especially with the oppressive heat we have experienced the last few days. Still not certain why my announcement pissed off Mr. Polakowski so much... it was like he took it personally or something. Sheesh. Y'all be careful out there.

Why don't you just bring something in and save yourself the hassle? Plus, you can drink it whenever you want as opposed to waiting on the gatorade buggy. I think a bottle of gatorade costs 99 cents. Most people I work with won't touch the "gatorade" the company supplies for fear of what may be in the container.

I bring my own drinks, but it’s pathetic a billion dollar company that has a work environment of over 100o cannot provide cold filtered water, or at least be responsible enough to get some form of drink to the employees.

Container? They still do it that way? We haven't had containers in a few years, they bring out bottles of gatorade & a cooler of ice to put them in at LAP. We used to have the mixed "gatorade" in the round coolers too. Not sure why they changed but sure am glad they did. Mold was found on several ocassions floating in the gatorade before we had the bottles.

How about a Whaa Burger and some French Cries to go with that Moldy Gatorade? It's just Pathetic a billion dollar company pays it's employees almost 30 bucks and hour and they still want, want, want... My Mama taught me a long time ago to take care of myself, no one else will. Just sayin...

All you nae-sayers are more than welcome to your opinion. But remember, opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one.
Lots of folks here at KTP feel the same way I do. It's not about greed, etc. It's about making the company follow their own rules & procedures for EVERYONE. It's about working safe & staying hydrated in 100+ heat index type of weather.
Y'all have a good 'un now ya hear ?

The Weather channel has to predict that it will be over 90 degrees for that day before they will normally give it out to the plant.
