but until the line going into medical is 100+ deep, nothing will ever be done. If it gets hot, go to medical. It really isn't that hard to check out the symptoms of heat exhaustion and reiterate them to medical. If everyone said they needed to go to medical, the line would stop. If they tell you they have no one to cover you to go to medical...tell them you can't do your job no more....head to the break room a/c...or just fall on the ground and act like you're passing out.

Amen brother....
This week every time I felt hot and miserable, I thought of those 10000 people praying to get a job here and make half of what we are making. Its hot and it will cool down. At least I think so, you global warming?

Just yesterday a 18 year old landscaper dies from heat exhaustion. True story form last year I was getting very dizzying form the heat then had a hell of a head ache, I went to medical they said it must be personal and if I wanted to leave I must go to the ER, which I did.
The ER diagnosed heat exhaustion and near a heat stroke had a temp 105, they took me off work for a few days. But when I turned the papers into medical all hell broke lose, they said "I had to go to work and they would keep me in a climax control area" their i deal of climax control area driving off the end of line. I had to take vacation days if I wanted off paid, which i did.

I was going to complain about how hot it is... then I realized that at least: 1.) it isn't 109 degrees; 2.) I'm not 5,700 miles from home; 3.) I'm not dressed in a full BDU uniform and helmet and carrying 70+ lbs.; and 4.) there is very little chance that anyone will shoot at me or that I might drive over a bomb in the road today! Remember all those who are still serving our Country!!!!

My daughter just returned from Afghanistan Friday. I'm so proud of her and all of our service people. Complaining about ice machines, etc, seems trivial. That being said I still want the dang things fixed!!

@ mrlandry, please tell your daughter thank you for me. Thank God that she made it back because many families didn't get to feel the joy that your family has with her returning back home.

Why do people always use the troops to make their argument? I know its hot in Afghanistan but an 18 year old died form the heat yesterday, his tempters was 110. But if makes you feel better when you start showing signs of a heat stroke to just think about the troops then your more them welcome to do so. But I'm going to medical sorry for my weakness.

What does it matter if Mrlandry uses the troops in his post, what does it matter to you if he does? You are right it is hotter than hell in here but trying to bust someones balls because they are proud of their child for making it home alive, and him saying that the ice machines are trivial compaired to what our troops are dealing with. Whats the issue with that. Ice machines are NOTHING! Go to Medical, you are right, but you know what, I talked with the nurses and asked if anyone has been coming up because of heat issues, and they said suprisingly no, not really. HUH, like always people complaining wanting everyone else to do it for them, but no balls themselves to go to medical if they feel that bad about the heat. That does not surprise me at all. Grow some Balls 862 Employee's!!

As usual, they carry them in their pockets....not between their legs!!!! You're right, go to medical...nothing will stop till more people go up there. Just wanted to say "I'm proud of my son as well, he is currently in Iraq and "busting his balls" in the heat!!!! You have to take care of yourself because nobody will do it for you!!

But like I said for the last 10 years when something comes up we see these post about not complaining because the troops have it so difficult. I'm sorry the troops are In Iraq I don't believe they should have been there at all, but they chose to join the army and thats what the army does. O BTW I don't believe one solder has died for a heat stroke in Iraq of Afghanistan.

Have you ever served??? The reason alot of our young men and women join is not only to "serve and protect" us the USA but because of the job market now days. I really don't think you want to open up that can of worms and talk down our military...because of them, you can come and go as you choose!

Yes I have served 87-92, My father served in Korea he said that was one helluva fight. Just because I wont be bullied by you doesn't mean I'm attacking the troops. This has nothing to do with the troops just the people who like to use them for cheap political games.

I wasn't trying to bully you and I thought this site was for blowing off steam so to speak. So sorry if you thought I was attacking you personally...I wasn't trying to do that. Most people who say things like that have no idea what they go through but some of us see it and hear it every day. I just take it a little personal with my son being over there at this very moment. But I'm proud of him and all of our families serving!! Nothing at ford is going to change unless we the members change it. You always hear people saying this and that but when it comes down to it they will never take a chance or try to change anything...just go with the flow. Till we stand up and make them hear us, it will stay the same. Sometimes I complain about the little things at work but we all know that it all starts with the little things. Something needs to be done.

How about acclimate yourself to the weather conditions? I run 6 miles almost everyday before work, usually around noon. I haven't died yet. I feel good afterwards. The heat at work is less bothersome. If you do everything thing to avoid the conditions we live in....in the outside world, then yes, you are going to die, stroke out, melt, etc.. It's not like it have never been this hot before. Get your ass outside, cut the grass, have a seat and a glass of lemonade, read the paper on the porch, masturbate in the tool shed, do something other than allow the air conditioning to condition you.

Nobody has said it's never been this hot before, it's all about taking care of yourself and knowing the warning signs and paying attention to them. We can't all be in tip top shape like you, I personally would love to be able to get out in the heat and do things but because of an illness out of my control which if I may add is "inherited" I can't and I'm sure there are alot of other people in the same position. That being said "don't let anybody tell you that it's not that hot if you feel it is" protect yourself and your family and seek attention, if you don't then the ball falls right back into your court for not doing the right thing. As far as going the the shed to masturbate? You have issues if you need to resort to that!!!

Nothing at ford is going to change unless we the members change it. Read more: scottrlap.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=rumors&thread=10338&page=1#44874#ixzz1TQ7K88XvHow true this statement is. With that said, we as a membership has had the chance to change things before and we will have the chance in the future. Change won't happen until we as a membership start by removing our local leadership and put a all new group in office starting with the President and working down the chart. I know all of you nay sayer's will say thing's like "There is a few good one's in office". and " we need experience in that position". I say true to all of that. My point being this, all of those in office now was once newbies to the union game. In three years if we do not change the people in office we will be back on here complaining about 1. Not seeing our union rep's. 2. Where oh where do our union dollars go. 3. How many more back door deals will they make. ETC. I am guilty of voting some of the same people in office time and time again and I need to practice what I preach. So starting in 2014 anyone in office will NOT I repeat will NOT be getting any support from me. Even though Scott does seem to try his best, it is more of the same ole same ole. Just like when the V.P. and his entourage shows up next week, we need to give them some respect but rip them a new one at the same time to make sure they hear us. It is time to hold our Union leaders both on the local level and the International level accountable for their action's.

trinitus I hear you on changing everyone out, but who are you going to put into some of those key positions? People that haven't served on the Committee before? You want to talk about getting the shit kicked out of us if that happens, management will eat them for dinner and shit them out on our heads because you think the company gets what they want now, then wait till you do that. I big move like that can't happen, the" body " voted in 6 new people this time around, next time some more will move out and new ones will move in thats the way it has to happen. As much as everyone would like to shit can all the reps from top to bottom that is the wrong answer. Todd is a great political bullshitter, thats what the Presidents job is (Political).. Scott, he is doing a great job, management fears him and that is what you have to have at that position and he knows the contract inside and out. You put that cat from the mod center in that ran against him and the Company will laugh in his face, we don't need that. It will happen slowly.

whiner862, since you are so union involved (by your last post) please let me remind you that everyone in the plant that pays UAW dues is ELIGIBLE to run for office. You do not have to serve on a committee to run. Serving on a committee or even being a backup committeeman doesn't automatically make you a candidate for office. There are people out there on the line who would do very well in office, these people do not run for office for various amount's of reason's. So for those that do want to run I do tip my hat to them. However, there is quite a few of them that run for other reason's than wanting to help this membership and that is the main reason why people in this plant CAN'T stand the union. Yeah I know we are the union, so what. In this case as well as every time I talk about the union (just like everyone else), when we say union we refer to the elected people in office and the people that are in appointed position's. As for the company eating those newbies alive, what the hell do you think they do to every new elected person in office? Do you really think that when Scott Eskridge first got in the union office he was feared by every management person there is? NO, he had to earn the respect from those people just like every new committeeman does. Even if we did change out the leadership top to bottom (including all appointed position's) these people would have to prove themselves to management just like Eskridge and every new person in the union office every three years. Now on to the position of President. Todd , was a good committeeman, I will give you that. In the position he is in now, he has nothing to do with the day to day operation's of either plant. That falls directly on the shoulder's of the Building Chairman and the Bargaining Committee. Yes, the President's main job is PR and doing all the political stuff that most of us in the plant despises Yet I doubt that you would want to spend your time trying to get people elected in office that would benefit the union now would you. As for that character that ran against Scott this year I didn't vote for him as you can tell by the result's not very many people did. If someone did run against Scott that I thought could do the job and didn't hold office before I would vote for them in a heartbeat but until then I guess Scott will hold onto his job. Whiner862, ever since you joined this forum you have complained just about on everyone's post, quit trying to make yourself look like you suck the nasty sweaty salt off of management's nutsack and try to be a better union member.

What the hell are you talking about, I have not defended the Company in any of my posts. Half of everyone on here bashes the union and not the company, you are the one helping the company by bashing this committee all the time.
You don't think that the company reads these posts? If you don't think so, you are an idiot. Now with that said I believe it is you that needs to be a better Union member.
Run for something, stop bitching and do something about it besides sitting back at home eating your soy burger and greasy chips and writing trash on the computer. And if you have run for something, well its apparent that the membership didn't like you or think you could do the job.

1. I never said you defended the company. What I did say was quit trying to make yourself look that way, there is a big difference.
2. Yes I do indeed bash the union on hereebut guess what? I also bash the company. If you read any of my other post's you would have realized that. I am not the only one to bash the union nor am I the only one to bash the company. As a matter of fact I give Kessinger and Brent Eskridge high marks for coming on here. They don't have too you know.
3. I could give a rats ass if the company personal reads these post's. I say let them read it, it might just take them off of us for a few minute's each working day. The more their on here the less they mess with us during working hour's.
4. I have never ran for anything in the union office but I bet I could get elected if I did. I am just like a lot of the people in here that has more thing's on their plate that we know what to do with. So running for Commtteeman is more than I can do right now.
5. What the hell is wrong with eating a soy burger? They are good and those greasy chips man they hit the spot. I like to drink Pabst Blue Ribbon while I eat them, come over sometime and enjoy one with me.
