HMM, metal straps, and road salt.......I am still trying how to figure this one out. Most gas tanks of today are that hard plastic kind and if I am not mistaken almost all manufactures use some sort of metal strap to hold them in place. So how can this just be a Ford issue?
Also, if they do fall off they more than likely will be held by the fuel lines unless the truck is doing about 65mph. I still can't see how they cause fires unless the fuel lines break.
No easy fix here because even if they put some type of rubber strap on it, those will get old and brittle or snap due to cold weather as well.

Stainless steel. Penny pinching bites again. The magnesium chloride brine that is used in some areas is especially hard on exposed metal and inferior coatings.

Doesnt all cars, trucks and suvs have metal straps holding the tank in place?Everyone I ever took down did?Just sayin
