Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Order Bank: Super Duty 33,440 units; Expedition 8,746 units; Navigator 1,337
Thank You
UAW Vice President Jimmy Settle's visit went very good. The only negative issue was
the time constraint that did not allow him to visit only a few areas. The areas that he did visit did
an excellent job at expressing their views. The Equity of Sacrifice grievance continuously came
up in the discussion. The membership communicated in a stern but respectful way to express
their feelings. Vice President Settles was impressed with the plant's hospitality.
Congratulations
The plant has just received awesome results on warranty for the Super Duty. The
numbers are very good. VRT numbers for the Super Duty have improved significantly.
Powertrain came in at 11.3 and improved to 7.8 for one month in service. The three month in
service improved from 40.8 to 33. Expedition and Navigator showed significant improvements in
most areas of quality as well. This is a huge victory for the plant and our membership. Good job!
Production Schedule
The week of August 8, 2011, we will remain on a production schedule of 1,377 units for
two shifts. This is approximately 9.2 hours off the end of chassis.
Local Negotiations
Scott Eskridge is in Detroit as a National Negotiator. On Monday August 8, 2011, we
will start Local Negotiations. During these negotiations, Royce Epperson, Bryan Kessinger and
David Guest will be out of the plant. Covering those positions will be the following people: John
Jaggers and Allen Hughes for dayshift bargaining committee, Ron Virgin will cover dayshift
skill trades and Bill Johnston will cover night shift bargaining committee.
Heat Stress
Please take all measures to protect yourself from heat exhaustion. We are working with
management to make sure that all the ice machines and exhaust are operational. While this is an
ongoing process we have got the company to agree to purchase some additional coolers and
stock them with ice and locate them in strategic areas around the plant. Make sure that you drink
plenty of fluids and wear loose clothing. When you take a break please try to find a cooler place
and relax. Heat stress can happen quickly so be aware.
In Solidarity,
Rodney Janes
