I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that union dues are based on the hourly pay. The more they make, the more the union gets. Just saying.

The more members, the more power you have. Membership has declined for decades, if we ever want to return to a national power we must change the publics perception of our organization. Educate and organize people for a long term goal.

I agree, dont see how there could be that many yet, this should be much easier to accomplish than getting some of our concessions back.

I agree, the union's priority ought to be workers who haven't hired in yet, and retirees who haven't worked here for years.
The rest of us can eat $%^#,,,,,,,,,

Why would we (UAW) membership want to fight for the 2nd tier workers to get more money???Didnt they take the job knowing what it paid??How about lets wait til the next contract and try to get you all some more money, this time we need to worry about the people that have been thru these shitty times with this shitty co. and get some of our SHIT back.

lets all remember that these new hires will one day be voting on things that involve (us) ,like giving them bigger bonues to vote a certain way that affects the retiree's ,so we should be fighting for them now .... just saying !!!!

Judging by the way some people are responding on the new hires pay,it seems the infighting is already starting.Make no mistake about it I beleive Top teir needs to get raise and a bonus.I also beleive the more new hires are making, the better it will be for everyone. When I hired in management style was very confrontational. That made me and I beleive most people stick together and fight unfair work loads.Over the years I witnessed management style change in a way that made people be less concerned about their coworkers and have an attitude "well as long as its not me".The two teir system is as much about division as it is about lowering cost.Everybody needs to look out for # 1,but lets try to help lookout for new hires also.

im against two tier wages. its gonna change things for the worse in ways people havent thought of yet. having said that i would rather get something for the people who are and have been working than the people who may not ever be hired. now they are hiring long term supplemental. thats not entry level. thats the same kind of tpt that toyota uses. next contract, if we have some entry level people, fuck yeah, lets try and help them all we can,but lets not fall for a straw man this time

Lets all remember that there is a reason we were not called second tier when we hired in, its because we weren't. We had a specific time table for when we would be at full pay. These people don't & there is a reason for that. They will try to keep changing the rules in midstream just like they have for the last 2 contracts & keep them from ever getting full pay, that is bad for them & us.

Never forget, Yes, you are your brother's keeper! Your brother is also your keeper. If everyone were to be each other's keeper, no one would be unsafe or uncared for. Each person would have someone looking out for him or her no matter who they are or what is happening around them. It would be utopia. From Christine Breese, D.D., Ph.D.

LTS, temps, whatever you want to call them, isnt this one of the things that the UAW used as a talking point when trying to organize Georgetown? Those poor people working for 5 years as temps and never becoming full time was all we heard. And now they let that happen in the Ford system? What a joke.

This inter-fighting that has already started is what the company had in mind. But I don't think that they expected it to start before we had any new hires in the plant. I may be new to posting any replies, but I have read this site for a long time. Then as well as now I have wonder how many Company moles are on this site leaving replies just to start what I have been seeing lately. We all know most of them have trouble thinking and walking at the same time. But, when comes to screwing us or screwing with us, I think we can all agree they are GENIUS'. And being the contract year gives them some kind of "Super Screw Them Powers".
So when the new hires do come in, just remember we were all there once. The only difference is that we where blessed with a permanent job and full benefits. But this is just my nickel-ninety cents worth.

The point is, if he gets the few hundred 2nd tier employees raises, it cost the company nothing at this time, cause there is not very many of them. Verses getting 40k 1st tier employee raises that gave up so much the last few years. Sure the company will give him the 2nd tier raises virtually zero cost to them , even as they hire them us 1st tier are going to be leaving, so the company will make money on that deal. Has nothing to do with me vs them. For me its another way IUAW looks like there getting us something, but really getting nothing. Now 20 years down the road it maybe something. Lap will not hire any untill that 3rd shift goes on.( if that ever happens)
