Have to remember that the UAW agreed to no strike until 2015 kind makes it hard to get anything when you cant strike. So $5,000 and no cuts in their medical is not that bad for them. But remember where not GM! Ford didn't file bankruptcy unlike GM and Chrysler Ford was free to pay it's management team what ever it wanted.
So I want a $15,000 signing bonus + new hire up to $19 an Hour, 2% raise every year, Profit sharing, Christmas Bonus. and then I'll be a happy camper.
But we know one year without record profits Ford and the UAW will start their crying broke song and want us to give it all back anyway.

"The wages and benefits we negotiated in this tentative agreement reflect the fact that it was UAW members who helped turn this company around.
This is the UAW's quote...they state both the wages and benefits are better than the previous contract...we will see.

Remember they also don't divert ONE dollar of their pay EVERY hour to VEBA; and they took raises as we were stagnant. Anyone know their wage scale now, isn't several dollars above ours?

The last paragraph explains why the union is not fighting for higher wages for us but instead is opting to concentrate on health care, retirement and profit sharing. They want to keep our wages down to keep them more in line with non union plants so that they can unionize these plants. This would make the international 's income increase but not ours.

No raise, no cola, no overtime after 8 hrs, no break time returned, no Christmas bonus.....what did they get again?

In almost every article Bob King says that he wants to unionize foreign owned plants yet he never says a word about improving our wages.

I was told by someone that retired that if we do strike the Union will only choose 2 plants to strike not the entire system.

I don't believe we would strike or have to, we didn't strike when we voted the last mods down, we just said no. If we say no again they will go back to the table & we will work under our current contract until they work it out. But it may not even matter, I was shocked to see so many on blue oval site saying what a great contract this was.

The UAW has their own PR people create accounts on popular websites and try to put a positive light on issues of their choosing, this being one of them. Some people may honestly buy into it; just be aware that some are there to influence our opinions.

The UAW plans to release details of its tentative contract with GM members this week. But people familiar with the deal indicate it includes the following provisions: • A $5,000 signing bonus...(should be closer to $10,000 and even then after four more years without a pay raise or COLA it will feel like $5 bucks. ) • Profit-sharing based on income from all GM's North American operations, not just the U.S. (so back to what it was before the 2007 contract.....YEPI ) • Increase in second-tier wage of about $3 an hour over four years (the only good thing to come out of this contract) • No major changes in retiree benefits....(so this is a highlight...Why? ) • Thousands of new jobs...(this was already in the making but I`m sure the IUAW will say it wouldn`t happen without them )

Unless senior employees get a raise...I hope they reject it.

I know alot of people are pushing for higher wage for 2 tier workers, but I'm wondering if it is cutting into our benefits. I guess I'm different because I have nobody that wants to work for Ford. They already have good jobs and my children plan on college....Just a thought...Wouldn't you like to have that $3/hour raise over the next 4 years..Now I know everybody is different and I'm sure there is somebody that would give their pay raise away...

Why does it need to be one or the other? Instead of letting them divide us maybe we could all be treated the same; they could pay new hires the same as us and give everyone a 3 dollar raise since we all sacrificed to turn this company from yearly losses to its most profitable year ever.

i agree with dave7293....and honestly, i am more concerned about getting a raise with nearly 20 years senority than being concerned about a newhire's pay.....then again.....i think ford should accommodate both!!

Just wondering...Can GM and Chrysler workers never strike or is it just for a certain time period? If I remember right, GM paid back or most of its loan. I've been hearing, though, Chyrsler may never able to pay it all back..

GM and Chrysler can still vote it down and have it to go to arbitration if needed. They do not have to accept anything thrown at them. The IUAW got a solid contract for a bankrupt company. Just do not ask me to pattern bargain with them.

I personally think the union will try to pattern bargain because they are lazy. They do have another 1000 rounds of golf to play by the end of the year.

It's the first offer, everybody in the business world shoots out a "Low Ball" offer the first time out. Let's see what the response is.
