The arbitrator heard the case...and has an undetermined time limit to make his decision which is complete horse shit...he should have 30 days, no more. Ford is using their strength to hush this situation and get it tied into the contract...period.

He does have 30 days after the briefs are filed, which are due tomorrow. Which means we should have a decision by October 29th.

The paper they handed out at KCAP said the arbitrator has 60 days to make up his mind or Ford can settle in that time frame also. I am guessing late November before we hear anything and I'm sure there will be another 30 days before Ford has to pay us.... if anything at all.

Straight from Mr Settles , read the last sentence carefully.
The National Ford Council met on 8/16/11 to discuss issues concerning the membership. The meeting began with discussion concerning the status of the Equality of Sacrifice Grievance. The arbitrator will hear the grievance no later than 9/22/11. The meeting date is dependent on Ford Motor Company's Joe Hinrich ability to get to Dearborn from China, which is his current work assignment. The company is now cooperating and providing the information that was requested by the UAW concerning this grievance. Once the grievance is heard there will be a two-week window for both the company and the UAW to write briefs. At that point, the arbitrator will have up to thirty days to write his decision. UAW Vice President Jimmy Settles told the council that the grievance is definitely separate from the contract.

That tells me that the contract has little chance of passing with the membership. I hope the company and IUAW realize the gravity of the memberships determination on these items. We gave these items up only for the duration of the last contract. The membership expects these items to be in the negotiations. If they were taken off the table by the IUAW with an arbitrator, then Bob King is actually more out of touch with Ford's membership than I thought. Is he on both sides of the table now with the new VEBA?
Best of luck IUAW with the sales pitch on the new contract.......................
