Some of you know I have a friend that works at the IUAW.. Sometimes he sends me text on what`s going on up there.
Just got one this morning.
He told me a Little about whats on the table and a lot of what we have been hearing is true with a few changes ...but for the most part he said we will not like it and advised me to read the highlights very close and ask a lot of questions about some things that will stick out as very questionable. That was all he could give me.

Most won't even read the highlights, if there is no COLA, NO Raise or anything given back they will vote NO. Even then I don't think King will still get how we feel.

Why be so vague?? spill the beans Now!! or just look like somebody blowing smoke! He was talking about things the Union will try to hide like the 10% of GM workers profit sharing going to VEBA fund is why there is a 1850 hour cap on eligible hours for profit sharing. The union offered the cap to get the company to agree on that but they played it off as though GM did it. some legal experts question its legality. Even GM upper management had its doubts. He couldn't`t give a specific answer because he hasn`t seen the highlights for FORD yet.

The markets are falling apart as we speak. It might be wise to let the union do there job and show some respect. There are forces at work that are bigger than Ford and the Union. We had to stand behind our Union and Ford the last contract because of the state of the economy, and it is happening all over again.
Do you not see a problem when car and truck sales are up double digit and the stock is down 3%? There are things beyond the curtain that is bigger than all of us at the moment. Show a little trust in your negotiaters. They are not the enemy.
Strikes are not fun, believe me. Although sometimes necessary, they can be devastating. Choose your battles wisely. Watch what is unfolding with common sense. None of us like the pay disparities that exist today. Nor the large class divisions. Too many things going on today to list, but these are not just Ford things and are certainly not going to be won by doing battle with Ford.
We are all feeling it. Don't think foolishly.

Everything that is being said here is very good and true. Please read the hightlights ( if that is what you call them ), go to the meeting and ask your questions to the ones that negotiated the contract. Vote with your heart but I recommend reading everything and asking a lot of questions so that when you vote you know that you voted what you thought was best for your family, your co-workers and for yourself.
It is not my place to sit and dog this contract or praise it. I will do what I am asking for you all to do but if you have talked to me on the floor then you know how I feel about everything that has taken place. This by far is the turning point of our life here at FMC. We are coming across a new beast that we have never delt with before. We are going to working with others that make just more than half our pay and to me, that is a scary situation for all of us to be in. Look at GM. They have in their contract that GM can hire an unlimited amount of 2-tier workers over the life of the contract. What does that mean you ask? (if you did, LOL) That mean that by the end of their contract in 2015, the ratio is going to be 4/1 2-tier worker to the full pay hourly worker. This is a big wedge in dividing the union and that is why we need to protect the 20% language or get the % lowered if at all possible and if not, then protect it so that it doesn't get larger.
Take the 10% of your profit going to VEBA as another issue. I personally don't like this at all. There is no reason for this to be going on at all.
The cap on profit sharing. Why should we be penalized for coming to work everyday? We come to work so that we all get the units out the door and make the company as much money as possible. In return, when we do have a profitable year then I expect that I get my fair share of the pie.
JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU READ ALL THE FINE PRINT THAT IS HANDED TO YOU. PLEASE GET OUT AND VOTE AND ENCOURAGE EVERYONE AROUND YOU TO GET OUT AND VOTE AS WELL.

Mr. eskridge, with all due respect I dont believe the 2 tier employees are unlimited at gm.What I read was that orion township was the only location that allowed more than 25%-2 tier.I could be wrong.however you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT that we should ask all these questions BEFORE voting.just because something you may want to know isn't in the highlights, does not mean that the leadership doesn't have to answer that question. My first question at ratification meeting will be,is there any language anywhere in the contract that takes away our right to strike.

In 2015, GM can have up to 25% 2nd tier company wide...total. One plant can be 100% as long as it keeps company under 25.5%.

He's probably reading it out the contract book. I'm sure they were printed up back in September.
