The portion of the existing contract that gave the two-tier workers the right to eventually go to top pay was marked out in this proposal. See for yourself - page 088c - letters of understanding.
Your family members that you referred Will never have the chance to go to top pay under this agreement.

If not, Settles lies again...he clearly told reporters that they will move to our level once someone is hired after the 20% threshold is reached.

I could not find anywhere in the contract that limited them to 20% sir. If someone finds it, post the page please for everyone to read.

Think of the trees and the ink they could of saved by just rewriting the whole thing. There's so much crossed out I went crossed eyed!

Unless it's in writing...I agree. Settles can tell the media anything he wants...just telling you what came out of his mouth.

What difference does it make if they limit 2-tier to 20% in this contract if the 2-tier can NEVER advance to top pay? Answer - it does not matter. Ford will 'LTS' the rest until the next contract. No one at 2-tier can get to top pay again. Please tell me again why the local union is pushing this contract so hard! It is nothing but a regurgitated GM fiasco! Let's pattern bargain with bankrupt companies and give Ford as much or more..HHMMMM.... What does the IUAW gain form this? Answer - a unified contract to go down south and unionize transplants. But what does our local at KTP have to gain from this....? What's next - Do we have to pattern bargain with Nissan, Mercedes, etc. ?? Ford has made too much money to plead poverty. ...And the IUAW thinks we are fools for the pickin'!!

You have it figured out...wish the rest would. Pattern bargaining with the foreign companies is sure to provide us with wage cuts and a 401k based pension.

YES they do become regular waged employees.
The answer is on pg 101 and 102 of the letters of understanding. Its a two page letter, I am not going to type all of it out. But it explain the 20% and also says..........
"the parties agree that new employees will be hired at entry level . Career progression into regular, non-entry level employment will be managed Coporate-wide, converting the highest sen. entry level employee to regular, non-entry level employment once the proportional model is reached in order to maintain the appropriate percentage." pg 102 Vol. IV of the 2007 agreement. It has not been lined through so that letter stands int eh new agreement.

That's the part I don't get Marcus...if they come in as 2nd tier with no legacy costs...when they get to our level, what happens to their 401k based pension? From what I know, they will never have a pension like ours...so they never entirely get to our level...right?

The only thing they gain is the wage increase. Everything they have will remain as if they are 2nd tier. Including the 2nd rate medical they have and no pension. They also do not keep any medical when they finally are able to retire. Its the worst thing the union has every done.
BTW ford made almost $6 billion profits with only like 100 or so 2nd tier workers in this awful economy.

Oh and I`m still not 100% sure the letter where they can move up to regular pay is still in the contract.

So...just as I thought...I would pass on a job at Ford for sure. Without the pension, there is no reason to work there...u can make more money elsewhere...the pension was the only reason many of us stayed.
