How does the Health Care affect me if I have Humana?
The changes to the Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan are a major improvement for our membership here in Kentucky. With the addition of a $20 office visit co-pay, and paid physical this will be a better option for many of our members. BC/BS has a much larger network than Humana, and has out of network benefits. BC/BS also has NO deductible. There are many differences in coverage between the two, and in some cases Humana will remain the better option. To help you make this decision the benefits reps are planning informational meetings in November. This will allow you to make an educated decision with time to switch before the first of the year when this part of the agreement go into effect in January. We also got coverage for transition lenses which is not in the highlights. Some other differences you may need to know: No Chiropractic, No Allergy meds. does cover Serum but not the charge for injection, it is harder to get acid reflux drugs and they have the mandatory mail order.
I have nothing but questions here. Are both options increasing cost for the hourly members? Is humana going up besides not covering future things such as allergy shots? No chiropractics? Why are we accepting concessions in health care also?
Please explain to me why this is an acceptable contract for a company that is raking in money???!!!!!!!!!!!!!
