What's up with the 4:30 start time for B crew? I was told by whomever answered the phone in the union office that it was some 24 hour rule between start times and that they would have to go back and pay overtime for Friday, so they put it back to 4:30. I asked what the difference was, as we have been going in at 2:30 on SAturday forever. He just said that was what he was told. I told him that it was just more contract "pissing contest". He said he didn't know about that, but I said that I did and thanked him for the info and hung up.

What's up with the 4:30 start time for B crew? Committee person in P trim stated that there were complaints of getting off work in the wee hours of the morning then turning right around to head out the door to come back in. They call cancel it at 2:30 am Friday for all I care!

Wait a second, what ever happened to at least eight hours between shift's rule? You get off work at 3:00 am but report back at 2:30 pm the next da, isn't that more than eight hours? I think it has something to do with the contract vote myself. They will do anything to get that damn thing to pass. Once it passes watch for a 2:30 start time on Saturday's again.

The company is planning Saturday for the rules that will be in place if the contract passes. The new contract has provisions for "Back-up Time", meaning if you have two seperate start times that are less than 24 hours apart, it automatically defaults all the hours worked on the first of the two days to overtime pay.
A 2:30 start time would only be 22 hours after our previous start time, so they'd be required to pay us overtime for all hours worked on Friday.
My only question now is, will they actually have us work all 8 hours to 1am, which will be 1 hour of double time after midnight? Would not be surprised if we only work 7 hours, which would have us leaving at 11:55p with 5 minutes break at the end and off the clock at 12:00a just in time to keep us from double time. At that point, I'd just assume stay the extra hour on double time.

I figured it had something to do with the contract. You never know about this place.

The back up pay provision would not apply since Sat. is time 1/2 anyway.
While we were walking the floor answering questions we had loads of complaints abut 2:30 Saturday start times. Scott had them move it back to address those complaints. I myself always liked getting it over as soon as possible but that didn't seem to be the case. If you feel differently please make it known.
This isn't about the contract it's about addressing an issue that a lot of people seemed to be bothered by.
KW we will have to see what happens on the DT and line times.

Now they are surveying to see which start time we prefer. 2:30 or 4:40, something seems fishy. If we volunteer to come in early, we give up the extra pay due from Friday. I am certain it will benefit the company.

2:30 start time for Saturday. Imagine that the ink has not even dried on the contract and already there has been changes.
