Now we'll have to live with it for another 4 years who knows what the future holds, but things could get really $hitty for UAW workers and it retirees.
I read a post form one IUAW who's out of Louisville; one thing he said has me very worried. " the veba has been fully funded by ford, the UAW didn't count on so many people taking the buyout and thats the reason they need more money to fund Veba, it will be up to the UAW to find the funds for Veba as Ford has already paid their share".
With health-care cost always shooting up you have to know what that will mean for are future. Ill say it and I hope I'm wrong but the VEBA will be out of Business in less the 10 years.
Current and future retires will not see any health-care when we retire. and unless you've got allot of money most people will have to work until 65 just to keep their health-care.

Settles said very little. In fact hardly anyone stood up to voice their dislike for the contract. Most people just came in...voted...and left. I had a gut feeling it would end up passing but I hoped my co-workers at KCAP would send a message to IUAW. I was completely shocked and ashamed when I learned it passed by 90%.

90% is numbers that Fidel Castro use to get when he held his so called free elections. Hell I think Saddam Hussein had one election where he only won by 88%

Im sure my vote magically changed after I pushed the button.

While I believe in the fear factor, The fact that your vote will change is not happening. I thought all along the plants with product guarentees would sway the vote. Like Kansas City. While I voted no, I worked overtime Friday night and talked to 15-20 people I didn't even know, and of those people none of them were voting it down. Between the guy I saw on Bloomberg T.V. and the facebook posts I think Elmer is spot on and I think when it all comes down to it people need the money right now and the 2 big checks played a big part too.

I wanna Know what was told by Settles out at Kc to get it to pass so big. imo the fact that the tentative agreement has a TLO instead of ILO for people at kcap, when they go down for retool was the biggest influence on the vote.Local leadership stated it (TLO) could be lost if agreement was voted down

When people start conplaining about how bad tings are getting and ow can the company get by with that-I'll say "remember when"...

So you accuse international of scare tactics, then start in about No health care when we retire, bad next 4 years, voter fraud. Those sound like scare tactics too. Marcus, the contract has been available to read before we started voting. You should already have the details.
