I will admit I did not attend last Saturday's question & answer session as I was in here trying to make a living for my family. However, I was wondering if anyone has any more information ( than what was in the highlights) about the mechanical teams that are going to be formed here at KTP. Thought I read somewhere that we are going to be a pilot program for "Manufacturing Teams" instead ? Not sure what the difference is, if any. Also been hearing rumors that the seniority rules for skilled trades may change.
Anyone care to share any information about these issues ?

Read an article late last week that stated there were many hidden surprises in the skilled trade section of the contract.Truthful article? I guess we will find out soon.

If mechanical teams are formed by PF, TM, and MW's there has to be a entry date that this team is formed because of 3 trades combining into one trade...so everyone would get that date of entry. Now you must ask yourself what is the tiebreaker for seniorty when all of us came into the "mechanical" trade...has to be your plant or Ford seniority...doesn't it? How else could you distinguish when you have 3 trades combined into one. You could not use your skilled trades seniority date because lets say all the PF's had more time then all the MW's...they won't let all PF's go to dayshift because they won't have the proper alignment of each skill set on these "mechanical teams". Only way I can see this being done...and alot of people won't be happy.

Ford seniority is the best and most logical answer I believe.

I agree...but regardless of how they handle it people won't be happy. I wish they would leave it alone then we wouldn't have to worry about it.

Thanks for all the responses folks. However, in talking with my skilled trades rep this morning I learned that we will still have our lines of demarcation & that the skilled trades seniority will remain as is.

That was the info I got also Red. The teams wages will be at the highest trades rate. There is also the likelihood of some management positions going away, the team will answer to the production area supervisor. Each plant will have it's own version hopefully.

Dont know the exact language on skilled trades taking $50,000 and going to production, but if they are able to do that and keep their ford seniority ( If they hired into trades from the street) then other trades seniority provisions also need to be changed.

Ford seniority should be the only seniority no matter what department you are in. No disrespect toward anyone. Just my opinion.
Worked with a guy who had 26 years in. Made it into the Apprenticeship and was at the bottom. His first Journeyman had 7 years at Ford. The years on the line have to count for something. Seniority is just barely one of the things we have left.

When I read page 427 of the new agreement, it says that anyone who hired into trades & then goes to production gets November 19, 2007 seniority. Not certain if this applies to skilled trades that take the 50G to go to production, but I get the feeling that it would.
