This is in reference to the Humana -vs- BCBS memo. I find it very interesting that the co-pays for BCBS state (IN 2012). Is this a teaser rate? Read between the lines. There is a rumor that the co-pays will go to $35 in 2013. Call me a cynic, but this insurance is being pushed for a reason and i do not believe it is for the workers to save money. JMO

I talked to the benefit rep Monday morning and as of then Ford was STILL in the middle of negotiations of benefits...hard to believe, eh?? He said BC wouldn't pay for many prceedures that Humana pays for and it was like pullling teeth to get them to pay...if that is the case-why don't they tell us that on the paper Ford handed out. Just make sure to go to the meeting 11-15 to find out the specifics if you are interested in switching...I was going to change, but after talking to him..I'm really leery of changing because it sounds like Ford won't back us up...

This is just my guess, but wth all the transfers comn to lap or ktp , and frm other states , i believe alot of them already have bc/bs , so this way the new transfers dont have to switch over to humana . just my guess

The only benefit I see is 20 co pay vs 25 co pay, not worth it to me for the hassle.

Who gives a shit about the Co-pay... How do the deductibles compare? I spend more on deductibles than I do co-pay... I'm sure at some point, there will be an apples to oranges comparison on paper.

JMO The employees of BC/BS of Michigan are members of (Drum roll!) the UAW. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Just like SVS employees and lab. Also, I believe Ford is still self insured so the Humana vs BC/BS thing comes down to which one can beat the hospitals/Doctors into the level of submission that Ford is willing to pay. Humana and BC/BS just administer the plans just like John Hancock/Unicare have administered the Medical Disability plan. The BC plan is advantageous to those who live outside the Humana coverage zone because it's been upgraded. Before this upgrade employees outside Humana's zone had the option of taking the BC that the KY retirees had with NO office visits paid, or if you were a transfer with your family/main residence out of zone you may have had BC with 5 office visits per FAMILY at $25, then the rest 100% out of pocket! BC is a plan Ford can utilize nationwide while having many types of HMO's in the various markets.

The term "Self Insured" is what Ford does with our Workmanship Comp. Ford negotiates a contract with Humana or Bc/Bs. They pay insurance premiums not self insured for our health care. Bc/Bs as HMO or PPO has been around according to region for a long time. Areas such as Indy had few employees left so their plan isn't as good. The more employees ..the better the rates.

I find these poat incrediblw! You are either a salary individual trying to spread hate and discontent, or a person who needs to quit. If working in an union enviroment causes you this much pain it must be a real bich to come to work... incredible... The UNION starts with U and requires participation if something is occuring that u dislike maybe theres a better place to work on the issue than this forum. AND! FYI I have nothing but good things to say about BCBS national plan (well 90%). If for example you travel to another state... vac or whatever your insurance still covers you. Most doctors like it because the approval process ia fairly painless and BC reimbursement rates are better than a HMO. Had a joint in my hand replace at Klienhart & Kutz I paid 35 bucks Ankle surgery at Baptist east didn't work out, had it redone in Mi... Can u do that with Humana? What the national plan offers is choice and isn't that what everyboby wants is choice... To make their own heallth care choice.... My experience with HMO's you can go to only doctors in humana network... BCBS cover entire US (larger network) If I have something major I'm going to the mayo clinic with Humana I'm going to the place that excepted the fee humana pays.... And now with BCBS covering office visits (20dollar co pay) It's a slam dunk...

I have had to be on BSBC because my kids lived in another State. The update is great, before office visit was all out of pocket not covered now just a small co-pay sounds good to me. 100% on all tests.
