Does anyone know why we don't observe it on the actual day? Seems like schools are out on the Friday. I don't know seems weird to me.

I am not joking. Veteran's Day is the 11th, gun season in Kentucky for deer starts the 12th. We are off on the 14th. Certainly sounds possible. I don't know about the other states.

We used to be off on the actual holiday. I think last contract they changed it to the monday after for some reason.

Three day weekend if it starts on Friday also. I understand people like to hunt but call me crazy but I'd like to actually have the day off with my family. But hey oh well as long as people get to kill deer.

If it's on the 14th, would'nt that also be a 3 day weekend??? I thought this was changed years ago. I for one am glad to be able to kill more deer. Trying to help with accidents caused on the highways from the deer.

As a member of a local American Legion, I do stuff with veterans all year round, not just one day a year. Every day is veterans day imo. Also, not everyone can kill a deer, ever tried bow hunting from the ground? lol. Didn't mean it that way ctopher, I was joking about it being moved to help out with modern gun season awols.

Monday off just gives us a long weekend to get up north and camp set up. Yahooo..1-six down/bow already.. Jan 9th I will be in LAP...what can I hunt than?

I want people to hunt and enjoy what they like. I guess I'm just disappointed that my kid is off that Friday and I will be at work. I rememer the last deer I killed. November of 93. Was home on leave and randomly walked into woods and killed a 6 point buck. Kinda lost the thrill after that.
