Been told that if you get hurt at work even on the job, they can put you out on no work.Ive never been hurt at work and hope I never do. But this seems wrong to me I thought it used to be they had to let you work. Then you go on a medical and that doesn't count as time for your retirement might be wrong on this and hope I am. What is the rule on this and has it changed.

If you get hurt at work, wouldn't that be workman's comp?

It is workmens comp...They have always been able to do that if they so please...Workers comp is all tax free money.

I guess the days of sitting all the Broke Dicks in the cafeteria for 8 hours are over. If you ask me, putting "them" out on a medical with no work available is an incentive for some weak minded individuals to get extra time off. Not to mention this policy would totally wreak havoc with KTP stats in relation to the other plants. Don't see this being policy.

Been here 19 years & its always been that way, its up to the supervisors whether they they let you work on light duty or not. "Usually"if they know its legit they will find something for you to do, if they have an idea (true or false) that its not legit or if they are over on manpower they will put you on no work available. I know....... I've seen all the ones who play the system stay on light duty off & on for years too, that's a third category. Of course this changes from area to area & supervisor to supervisor.

They've had several medicals, I heard as many as 14, marking bolts with paint in the Admin building the past week.

If you have real nice tits, there's no problem putting you on light duty.
If you've bucked them on a job workload, well, there just isn't anything for you to do..........

That's why I said if they if they have an "idea" its not legit, true or false. Didn't say it was right, just how they do it.

Well then, they are all 100% legit... I'm pretty sure Broke Dicks Mom didn't write the note or place em on restriction. (yea, that was sarcasm) They have ALL had a doctor write the notes and place the restrictions.
I have trouble remembering anyone who sat out with a work related injury, unless they were totally incapacitated. I have seen broken bones, twisted ankles sitting in the cafeteria for 8 hrs a day, 40 hrs a week. If you have a personal injury or illness, forget about it, enjoy your time off...
But yea, every situation is different, where discretion is allowed, favoritism, cronyism, exist.

where do you work kb? I have never seen anyone sit in the cafeteria for a whole shift while on light duty, if they don't have work for them at LAP they send them home on no work available.

Oh, my bad, I thought this was the KTP page... Yup it is the KTP page. This was done in the past in my opinion to protect plant statistics regarding workmans comp, lost time of job etc. I'm not suggesting this is current policy, just saying that KTP will do stupid shit to make it look better that it is. Did I say that out loud? It certainly was unethical, maybe illegal, who knows? But it did happen...

I think Ford KTP is self insured. So they do whatever they want to do. Since they have to pay you, not a workmans comp policy(insurance). So if they want you to paint bolt heads , you gonna do it or not get paid. That's if it's work related. You think they gonna send you home and pay you? If they sent you home I bet you didn't get paid.!

Seen you on both pages kb so wasn't sure.
If they send you home with no work available you do not get paid, if you are on workmans comp you are not at work unti you are off workmans comp.

Yes sir, that is true... Years ago I broke my hand, which was a personal injury. I was sent home no work available because I could not do my assigned job. Personal injury of course, I sat home collecting John Hancock. Meanwhile those with work related issues, pushed a broom, inspected stock, worked in the office, maybe even "painted bolt heads". Point is, at the time KTP would avoid a workmans comp claim at all costs, while not hesitating to give others a mini vacation while recovering from non work related issues. So far though, I've been healthy here in Happy Land with no issues to comment on...

Yeah LAP would do the same thing, hated workmans comp claims, had a gestapo interrogate you & try to get you admit that your injury was caused by anything other than something at work. " Are you sure you didn't slice your finger off at home before work?"

They would rather bring you into work and do nothing than pay workmans comp. It's cheaper for them to do that, plus it doesn't show up on the injury report as long. I have known several that they have done this to.

If you get hurt at work the best thing to do is get a workers comp lawyer. The company is just protecting themselves and looking out for there own bottom line, also be warned the union will not get involved with you if you get hurt on the job! your on your own legit or not.

There is no change. As stated earlier its workers comp, they have every right to put someone no work available and pay them WC.
But also as stated earlier this is a game of numbers. They will only sit you in cafateria til Jan. 1 of the following year. Then you go no work available. The reports generated for lost time cases run Jan. 1 to Jan. 1. No its not illegal, you didn't lose the time if they are willing to pay you to do less or nothing.
This is not a KTP exclusive. This seems to be done pretty much everywhere.

It might not be illegal Kess but it Pisses me off when Ford will pay for Cab fare for those people and we got people that were laid-off. It isn't small fares either. Ford was paying Cab fare for 3 people coming from Barstown ky at $100 ONEWAY...thats $200 a day to drive 1 person to work and no they wern't riding together. This went on for 6 weeks. So for 3 people Cab fare was $3000 dollars a WEEK! times that by 6 weeks, thats $18,000 dollors for FUCKING CAB FARE!. Thats only for those 3 people, there were 4 other people in the room using cabs also! just not as far....mine was $40 bucks day!......oh it's not illegal but dam might as well be a SIN....SHAME OF YOU FORD AND SHAME ON THE UAW BECAUSE THIS BY FAR AINT THE ONLY STUPID STUFF THATS GOES ON!
