They do this every year. It's no surprise. Body will be off on friday and get paid SWW for it.

Well "IF" C- crew can do good on Thursday night( our Friday ). Should have stacker mostly full, where dayshift only runs 4 hours and they cancel night shift paint and body. That is a BIG IF! Plus c-crew would start early on Sunday to fill also. Really no reason to run day or night shift. Just c-crew. They not going to promise you anything thou.

Now that`s a crock of shit...if anything C-Crew should be cancled Sunday night or work short. System should be filled before anybody goes home or gets cancled. Night shift has the best chance of getting cancled because of us all doing close to or over 500 units per shift.

They should make A-crew in body and paint run a full shift on Friday, or better yet, cancel B-crew and let A-crew work 2hrs over. Let them make up for all the times B and C get forced into 10hrs shifts "because we don't have anybody working before or after our shifts, they can do that."

That won't happen Lucifer, it makes too much sense. We both know if it makes sense it won't happen. Beside's, haven't you heard that A-CREW is the chosen one. They don't have to conform to what the other two shift's has to do.
Seriously though, when nightshift leaves Thursday night both C-CREW Body and Paint along with Stamping has to work to fill the stacker and system. If everything goes OK, they will only have to work about 4 hours Friday night at least. They would have to leave some room so C-CREW can work Sunday night but who know's what will happen. We all know our Building Chair and BC "LISTEN'S" to the membership.

Just to clarify what's going on. We in Final are still working 40 hours this week. We aren't getting off early. 10 hours shift at straight time is not that great.

brizzel, my issue isn't with Final area, whether they are or aren't working Friday. My issue is with the Union, the contract states that an arrangment to accomodate "the membership" for an adjusted work schedule would try to be reached between the Union and Company. No where does it state a "portion of the membership" or "the majority of the member ship". They have made schedule adjustments in the past that took the WHOLE membership into account and EVERYBODY had an opportunity to be off. What has changed? I would be willing to work 2hrs over the next 4 weeks to make up for the 8hrs of production missed, but nobody asked. Why not?

I don't think they really ask anybody except those in the air conditioned office. I guess this issue would be to difficult to resolve in our local agreement. Everybody gets the day off or nobody. That simple.
