I would like to conclude this newsletter by talking about safety. We have had
many serious injuries in the Ford Motor Company system recently, including one across
town at the Louisville Assembly Plant. Most serious injuries continue to be slip, trips and
falls. The injury at LAP involved an employee walking backward tripping over a knee
locker and falling resulting in two fractured ribs. Along with slip, trips and falls there are
also many injuries that involve PMHV's and finished vehicles. One such injury occurred
at the Michigan Assembly Plant. This involved a pedestrian that walked out of an aisle
into the path of a fork truck and was struck. The employee suffered several injuries.
We work in a fast paced, ever changing, dangerous environment. We must
always be vigilant and aware of our surroundings. We have had many new employees
enter the plant recently who maybe unfamiliar with the dangers, we need to educate
them and help watch out for them as well. Everyone should keep an eye on each other
so that we all leave and return home to our families.
In Solidarity,
Scott Eskridge
