I see the election committee has the pick room all sealed up for the vote...
Question... Does the election committee over see the election of team leaders? Is there a nomination period for team leaders like other elections? just curious how this whole vote thing works.

No to the election of TL(s)...the union rep of that area is usually present to conduct the vote for TL.

I'll have to look in to that, I don't think that is legal according to UAW Constitution... May have a challenge there, what's the role of election committee.... committee people involved in an election.... Hmmmmm

HMMM... www.uaw.org/page/uaw-constitution-interpretationsUAW Constitution SECTION 10(c) (1) Responsibility of Local Union Election Committee to Cooperate with Local Union Officers Local Union Election Committee is obligated, in the preparation for an election required by the Local Union to be conducted by the Election Committee, to consult and cooperate with the Officers of the Local Union in establishing the procedures for such election. However, the actual conduct of the election is entirely the responsibility of the Election Committee. (Detroit, 1/31/74, Pages 212-213.)

I believe Scott Eskridge and bargainers held the meeting with the team leaders. I'm not sure if committeemen were present or not.
With that said, I'm still shocked that the original contract did not pass. Was it perfect - never. But when I talked to many people on the floor, most passionately pointed out issues related only to the national contract. (A huge sore spot) Only the team leader issue is local.
It is very possible I'm missing something though.

I don't even care enough to go vote...if it wasn't so out of my way, I would vote. But there really isn't anything to gain or lose in this local that I feel passionate enough to cast my vote. I don't care if it passes or not to be honest.

I will continue to vote no as long as they keep bringing us this crap. Either we need someone who looks out for the membership or we will be doomed. I understand we have to fight to either keep what we got or try like hell to get things lost back. To lay in there and roll over is not what we are about, then again money makes the ones in charge even more greedier than ever.

But what are you voting against? Our time to stand was with the national... The union asks the TL(s) what we want and then we vote on it. Lmao

Lmao It's never too late to take a stand, you can start now for the 2016 contract. The local gets answers from the TeamLeaders, the membership votes no. Maybe on the next version they'll listen to the voters and not the TL's... And keep the damn GRANDFATHER clause out. edit: But remember the bandsaws, we can't go another contract without extra bandsaws. Maybe we can even push for $1000 Visa gift cards IF people have perfect attendance over the life of the contract.... (Put that $$ amount out there so people will vote yes).

Lmao I stood tall and proud in the National Contract and voted NO. The reason's I voted no now is not because of the national. I voted no now because: 1. The local leadership FAILED us. 2. The local leadership DIDN'T listen to what we were saying. 3. The removal of the 150 people to LAP letter, instead of trying to remove the one for one language. 4. TL's not being bidded out (minus the Grandfathering in). 5. Perfect attendance language, not being fair to all who went all year without missing a day (including the elected and appointed people). I will stop here, we both know I could go on with a lot more things but I tried to keep it sort and simple.
