Doesn't it stand to reason that if the KTP bargaining committee wanted the tentative local contract to be ratified they would have every elected and appointed union representative on the floor of the plant this week answering questions, correcting misconceptions and campaigning for a "yes" vote?
During any election for union office a small fortune is spent on t-shirts, posters, fliers and handouts. The campaigners are thick as fleas. You need a stick to beat them off. Free car rides are offered to make it easier for rank-and-file to make it to the polls.
As usual this week no member of the bargaining committee is anywhere to be seen. I have seen one union representative: my committeeman. He said nothing about the ratification vote one way or the other.
What gives? Do they not care one way or the other? Are our union representatives simply lazy and incompetent? Are there other explanations?

The logical answer is, that they already KNOW it is going to pass so why bother spending time and money for a sure thing.

Maybe. I know two things:
1) it is another low turnout. Just over 1000 voted the first time. Just over 1100 had voted as of 11:30 am today.
2) Everyone who I know for a fact has voted... voted "no."
