Well one of my team members got struck by a forklift yesterday but wasnt injured thank god.Just wondering why we have PAINTED STOP SIGNS ON THE FLOOR AND NOT MOUNTED TO A POST LIKE ON THE ROADWAYS THROUGHOUT THE USA..?Also everyday when I walk in and walk out thru chassis the drivers act like you are in the wrong and give you a fucked up stupid look when you cross and they have a stop sign? Are they in that big of hurry that they would hit a fellow worker? If it was up to me moving vehichles would not be allowed to cross into the painted walk ways.Someones gonna get hurt around here if things arent changed. And the Co. Will probably get sued.. Just sayin.

try material handling for awhile and watch pedestrians and bicycles cut in behind you just because they see a little daylight or there in a hurry to get home.....believe me it works both ways....as of right now all they want to do is cut out jobs.....which means they want the lift drivers to go even faster.....plus they put forklifts the size of bulldozers on jobs that are too tight for them to get into.......all because they wont get forklifts or fix the ones that we have last i heard there were over 80 lifts in the itr shop.....and yes thank god the person wasnt injured....but if something doesnt change someones gonna get hurt.....they have more bicycles now then forklifts........its a sad situation the way the want to run the plant

I agree 100%.But when it comes to people crossing at the designated cross walk area the driver should always come to a complete stop and let the human cross first.I think they should stop even if there isnt a person standing there waiting to cross.I mean no matter how hurried we get in our everyday lives we still have to stop at stop signs on the roadways.thats just my opinion though.

Now there are forklifts with 8 foot forks that are placing stock on the main line. Its just a matter of time before someone is injured. The geniuses in mgmt think its a good idea to cut out a job by having a forklift with 8 foot forks driving up and down the aisles. Health and safety has signed off on this as well. Anything to save a few bucks!!!!

LOL you have health & safety signing off on 8 ft forks & we have to let the line run out of stock if there's not a small stand up fork to put it on line. Happened today, battery ran down on the stand up & 2 lines shut down because the regular fork is not allowed to put stock on the line anymore.

Health&Safety- The forks are 8 feet long and the racks are 8 feet deep. What could go wrong? I am sure there will be alot of finger pointing when someone gets hurt.

They don't need signs on posts, they would just get knocked down anyway... The driver knew the Stop sign was there, he goes through that intersection multiple times a day. Pedestrians should know to stay in the designated walk aisles also, it takes both sides to cooperate.

Yeah I think stop signs would help.Theres not a day goes by that when your walking in or out of the plant or to the bathroom that 2 forks or other vehichles pass each other and come into the walking path. They should never drive in the walking path.No matter how big a hurry they are. When someone rushes me I slow down. They can only rush you if you let them.Period.Like I said signs on the floor are dirty and unpainted not real visible.Noticed yesterday that the lil rail they put up at the gate 5 entrance is already broke loose from the concrete ,were it was hit? That lasted about 4 days . just sayin.PS.Its everyones problem not just the drivers or the peds.Signs couldnt hurt anything could they?

All sounds good in theory...but the forklift drivers, with the training they are given, knock down main airlines and main water lines all the time....not the mention all the fans, rack, table and flooring...not enough time to fix the stop signs.

this is exactly true they put forklift drivers on equipment their not familiar with,in areas their not familiar with and wonder why accidents happen........as long as the forks go up and down and you have a license thats enough...and if an accident happens its o well its your fault.......lets fire you and we can hire someone else in at a lower wage and they wonder why contracts wont pass and morale is low?

put it blunt....do they care about you as a person and your safety......or is it that if you get injured it might cost them money?

Forklift with 8 foot forks almost hit a pedestrian last week. Near miss was reported and Health & Safety watched the job for 5 minutes and declared it was a safe job. It will be the lift drivers fault if a person is hit in a walkway or the pedestrians fault if they are hit outside of a walkway. It will be a workers fault one way or the other. Just another example of CYA (cover your ass).

I have read the comments and most of them are on the money. Just to add my opinion everyone needs to walk in the assigned areas and watch out for moving vehicles, they are bigger than you. There nothing more important you getting home to your family safely.

I work in Body Shop. I stay in the walways but some racks are too wide so if I see one I step aside and let them pass. I also make verbal and/or eye contact with EVERY PMHV driver anywhere in the plant. I then will either use verbal ques or hand signals to communicate my intentions as far as which way I am walking. I then wait for that driver to signal me to pass. I have had my fair share of near misses and some were my fault but I learned from them. Also be aware of your surroundings at all times and even when walking STOP at blind corners and intersections and make sure nothing is coming.

put it blunt....do they care about you as a person and your safety......or is it that if you get injured it might cost them money? Go outside pre-delivery where the trucks come out of the plant and go to the test track. There is a painted walk way to the body shop and where it crosses the path of the trucks it says to yield to the trucks! That says what Ford cares about, numbers NOT people!

You girls make me want to puke. Safety is ultimately a personal responsibility. Grow up, look both ways before you cross like you have since you were five. Or maybe we can bring in some retired school crossing guards to hold your little hands. Stop signs, really? How long would that last before some dumb ass scalps himself because he was watching his feet instead of where he is going? Pathetic, you work in a factory, not a day care.

Girls you ever see a girl with a #@$%$@$ that big?Anyway signs posters or whatever that would be seen by driver and walker would HAVE to help.Thats just my opinion. You walk in the isle in the walkway and get blind sided thats not the walkers fault. You walk in the path of the vehichle and get struck its not their fault.DUH I think we all know that and I think we all know where we work>>.Still there can always be improvement.I guess.PUKE
