Report from the Meetings held on May 14th & 15th 2012
The following is a report from the Sub-Council II meetings that were held on May 14th & 15th 2012. Reports were given by each
of the Locals listed below. They include plant work schedules, number of shifts, plant populations, product information, and other
significant items of interest.
Local 249 - Kansas City Assembly Plant – Future Producer of the Ford Transit Van, currently producing Ford F-150 Trucks; Production - 50
hour weekly work schedule with 1 Shift (5 day traditional schedule) for Trucks, running 62.4 jobs per hour in the Truck System
• Reported the last Escape rolled off of the final line on 4/29/2012, and effective on 4/30/2012 that 1200 members went on
extended Temporary Lay Off for up to 17 months while the plant is retooled for the Transit Van
• Construction and demolition getting underway in the plant, the leadership is currently working on maintaining full utilization of
the skilled trades employees
• Launching the #3 Shift (evening shift) back into the Truck System on 5/21/2012 (adding an additional production shift)
• Reported the new Integrated Stamping Plant building nears completion and the press is scheduled to arrive on 6/01/2012
• All members (both production and skilled trades) that will be working in the new Stamping Plant have been identified
• Reported the leadership is pushing to get apprentices added to the workforce to support the launch of the Transit Van
• Currently have approximately 275 Entry Level employees working in the truck system, all Long Term Supplemental employees
were laid off when the Escape balanced out, a large number high seniority employees requested to take the Temporary Lay Off
• Grievances: 2nd Stage – 400, 3rd Stage – 275, Production Standards – 0, Umpire Level – 0, Health & Safety - 12
• Plant Population - Production 2004, Skilled Trades 476, Temporarily Laid Off 1200
Local 551 - Chicago Assembly Plant – Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS, and Ford Explorer; Production – 40 hour weekly work schedule with 3
Crews (4X10 AWS)
• Reported the plant began a 3 Crew (4X10 AWS) operating pattern on 5/14/2012
• Reported that Police Interceptor model sales are going strong, indicated that fuel economy is a huge selling point
• Indicated that over half of the members working in the plant are Entry Level employees
• Reported their apprenticeship list has been completely exhausted
• Indicated the Company unsuccessfully attempted to change a Skilled Trades AWS start time from 7:00pm to 6:30pm in order to
avoid paying a 10% shift premium
• Reported the plant population has almost doubled in a 2 year time period
• Overall Plant Population – 3800
Local 862 – Louisville Assembly Plant –
Next Generation Ford Escape; Production – 40 hour weekly work schedule with 2 Crews (4X10
AWS), Skilled Trades - 3 Shifts working 12 hours a day 7 days a week
• Reported they are still operating under an extended 2007 local agreement and launch agreement and plan to begin
negotiations for a new local agreement with the start up of the C Crew this coming August
• Indicated that newly elected District Committeepersons have attended training
• Indicated the 3rd Production Crew will be implemented by 8/13/2012
• Reported that a "4 Crew / 2 Shift" AWS for Skilled Trades will go into effect on 6/11/2012
• Reported that heat stress is becoming an issue, outlined there is currently a lack of water fountains, fans, and ice machines in
the plant and that these issues are being dealt with through discussions and the grievance procedure
• Indicated the new In-Plant Union Office is near completion
• Mentioned that NASCAR Driver – Matt Kenseth will be visiting LAP on 5/15/2012
• Reported the Company tried to implement a new PPE/MCE policy without full discussion with the Union Committee
• Grievances: 2nd Stage - 44, 3rd Stage - 4, Skilled Trades - 20, Umpire Level - 2, Health & Safety - 4, D-1 Cases - 1
• Current Plant Population - Production 3213, Skilled Trades 368
Local 862 – Kentucky Truck Plant – Ford F-Series Super Duty Trucks, Ford Expedition (all versions), and Lincoln Navigator
(all versions); Final Area Production - 40 hour weekly work schedule with 2 Shifts (5 day traditional schedule),
Body & Paint Production - 40 hour weekly work schedule with 3 Shifts (5 day traditional schedule)
• Reported the currently daily production number is 1409 units per day, which is approximately a 9.2 hour daily production
schedule per shift in the Final Area
• Indicated that F-Series production is projected to increase by 20,000 units over the next 2 years
• Reported the plant will be going to the 10 to 1 team size ratio while maintaining elected team leaders in 2015 when the new FSeries
vehicles are launched
• Indicated that members are still very upset about the unresolved "Equality of Sacrifice" grievance, and the fact that salary
employees received bonuses and pay raises
• Reported the plant will only have 1 shutdown week beginning on 7/02/2012, Long Term Supplemental employees are being
utilized in the plant to provide vacation coverage to allow employees to schedule their additional vacation time
• Indicated there are currently 146 Entry Level employees and 200 Long Term Supplemental employees working in the plant
• Indicated the plant is going to be bringing on 10 Electrical Apprentices, no definite date has been established yet
• Received 6 Skilled Trades employees (2 Tool and Die Makers, 3 Millwrights, and 1 ITR Shop Mechanic) from LAP
• Indicated they currently have 2 Skilled Trades employees (1 Carpenter, and 1 Machine Repair) working in production that
transferred into KTP from other locations
• Reported that 6 Memorial Plaques were ordered and placed near the plant entrance doorways recognizing the members that
have been fatally injured while working at KTP, a plaque was also placed at the sight where Ron Cassidy was fatally injured
while working on the plant floor
• Running 43 jobs per hour on Final Line 1, and 46.25 jobs per hour on Final Line 2
• Grievances: 2nd Stage - 97 Production - 47 Skilled Trades, 2.5 Stage - 7, 3rd Stage - 6, Umpire Level - 1, Health & Safety – 7,

Local 900 – Michigan Assembly Plant – Ford Focus; Production - 40 hour weekly work schedule with 3 Crews (4X10 AWS)
• Indicated their Local Agreement has still not been printed and distributed because the company refuses to print language that
was agreed upon and signed off on by both parties, have been waiting for over a year now
• Reported the plant is running 70 jobs per hour off of the Final Line
• Grievances: 2nd Stage - 29, 3rd Stage - 3, Umpire Level - 1, Health & Safety - 0, D-1 Cases – 0, Production Standards - 0
• Overall Plant Population - 3544
Local 900 – MAP Body Stamping Plant – Production - 40 hour weekly work schedule with 3 Crews (4X10 AWS)
• Reported the 3rd Production Crew (C-Crew) was implemented on 5/07/2012
• Indicated that a Skilled Trades AWS will be implemented on 6/11/2012
• Reported that a new Press Line started running production on 4/02/2012 stamping body sides for the Ford Fusion
• The Ford C-Max body panel production is scheduled to launch in June 2012
• Construction has begun to add an additional new Press Line
• Reported that 70 Long Term Supplemental employees were brought into the plant in order to help launch the C-Crew
production crew and the C-Max product launch
• Indicated that 2 additional Electricians and 4 additional Die Makers were recently added to their workforce

Local 2000 – Ohio Assembly Plant - Ford Econoline Van; Production - 40 hour weekly work schedule with 2 Crews (4X10
AWS) running 38.64 jobs per hour
• Reported the current order bank is 12,229 units
• The leadership is very pleased about getting the Ford F650 and the Ford F750 product commitment for the plant
• Reported that vacation shutdown is scheduled for the first 2 weeks of July this year
• Indicated that 62 production employees and 39 skilled trades employees accepted retirements packages
• Reported the plant will be receiving 27 transfers from Sandusky
• Currently has 121 Long Term Supplemental employees working in the plant
• In January 2012 the tentative Local Agreement was rejected by the membership, will be re-entering negotiations on May 21st
• Plant Population - Production 1460, Skilled Trades 266, Volunteers on loan to other locations 43
Local 3000 – Flat Rock Assembly Plant - Ford Mustang (all versions), and Mazda 6 Sedan; Production – 50 hour weekly work schedule with
1 Shift (5 day traditional schedule)
• Reported that 50 production employees and 33 skilled trades employees elected to accept retirement packages
• Announced the last Madza 6 is scheduled to drive off of the assembly line in August 2012
• The 2013 Ford Fusion is being brought to the USA and is scheduled to be launched at Flat Rock Assembly in January 2013
• Reported that an additional production shift is projected to be added in 2013 due to increased production expectations
• Reported that 108 members have been brought back and 48 Long Term Supplemental employees are now working in the plant
• Indicated that 6 Tool & Die Makers have returned to their tools from indefinite layoff
• Train-the-Trainer classes have begun for 4 Electricians chosen to staff their Training Center for Next Generation III Tooling
• Plant Population - Production 1610, Skilled Trades 205
Local 600 – Dearborn Truck Plant (Guest from Sub Council # 1) - Ford F-150 Trucks / Ford F-150 Raptures ; Production - 40 hour weekly
work schedule with 3 Crews (4X10 AWS) running 65 jobs per hour
• Reported the plant recently brought in 150 Entry Level employees and 150 Long Term Supplemental employees
• Waiting to send approximately 45 RTBU employees back to Lavonia
• Indicated that a large percentage of former skilled trades employees are returning from production work assignments
• Reported the plant is still dealing with overtime equalization issues
• Reported the plant is currently on a 10.3 hour work schedule per shift
