To: All Long Term Supplemental & Temporary Part Time Employees
Dear Brothers & Sisters,
All current Long Term Supplemental and Temporary Part Time Employees will not be eligible for any
vacation pay or holiday pay for the 4th of July holiday during the upcoming shutdown period. This having
been said, affected employees are encouraged to file for unemployment insurance benefits for the benefit
week beginning on 07/01/2012 and ending on 07/07/2012. Please remember that you must claim any
wages that you earn from employers other than the Ford Motor Company during this time period.
The Company will be submitting an employer filed claim report to the Kentucky Unemployment
Insurance Division on behalf of all affected employees being laid off during the upcoming
vacation shutdown period. This eliminates the burden of employees having to open new claims or
reactivate current claims themselves. After the state receives and processes this information
affected employees will be receiving correspondence from the unemployment insurance division
that will be mailed to the address on file with the Company. If a new claim is being opened on your
behalf you will first receive a monetary determination notice that will explain whether or not that
you will be eligible to receive benefits. If you meet the eligibility requirements you will then receive
a pay order form in the mail which will explain how and when to request a benefit check. If you
have an existing claim that is being reactivated you will only receive a pay order form in the mail
which will explain how and when to request a benefit check.
In order for a new claim to be valid affected employees must have previous quarter payroll earnings paid
in Kentucky during the last 3 quarters of 2011 and the 1st quarter of 2012.This information will be
disclosed on the monetary determination notice.
Long Term Supplemental and Temporary Part Time Employees that have worked 10 or more
weeks since their most recent hire date for the Ford Motor Company - KTP will be filing against
the Company's unemployment insurance account with the Kentucky Division of Unemployment
Insurance. Those employees having worked less than 10 weeks for the Company since their
recent hire date will be filing through the unemployment insurance account of the Company,
however these claims will be charged back to their previous employer’s account.
Please be aware that under the new Kentucky unemployment insurance guidelines all new claims opened
on or after 01/01/2012 will be subjected to a waiting week rule whereas the first week claimed within a
given benefit year (which is a rolling 12 month period from the initial claim date) will not be eligible for a
benefit check. However, in this case it is recommended that a benefit check is requested even though it
will not be issued. The reason being is that the waiting week rule requirement will have been met for
affected employees, and any future claim weeks within the benefit year will be eligible for benefit
payments provided all other eligibility requirements are met.
Any employee having a valid existing and/or extendable claim, which will be reactivated in this
case, that was opened during 2011 with the Kentucky Unemployment Insurance Division (a benefit
year is a rolling 12 month period) will not be subjected to the new 2012 waiting week rule
referenced in the above paragraph.
***Employees who began working and had earnings from the Company during the 1st calendar quarter of
2012, who most recently worked for an employer in a state other than Kentucky should be able to file a
combined wage unemployment claim in Kentucky utilizing transferred previous quarter base wages from
that state for the preceding quarters. This can only occur if you have payroll earnings reported to that
state’s unemployment insurance division. Affected employees can contact me after receiving their
monetary determination notice from the unemployment insurance division and I will help them with these
claims.
***Employees starting work after the beginning of the 2nd calendar quarter of 2012, and had earnings
beginning after the month of March from the Company, who most recently worked for an employer in a
state other than Kentucky will be required to contact that state's unemployment insurance division in
order to utilize an existing or extendable claim (if applicable) or file for a new claim for unemployment
benefits. Please contact the applicable state unemployment division for claim application and benefit
