Union Meeting Minutes
August 14, 2012

KTP Chairman’s Report
• The current order bank is as follows: Super Duty 36,130 units; Expedition 5,942 units; Navigator
1,045 units. The schedule is 1,410 units off chassis which is approximately 9.3/9.4 hours per
shift.
• We will launch the 2013 Expedition/Navigator on August 23, 2012. We are scheduled to launch
the 2013 super duty’s the week of 10-22-12
• We are scheduled for the following tentative Saturday production days on August 25 and
September 8, 2012. We will also run a volunteer 10 hours shift on September 3, 2012, Labor
Day. We will also be running a volunteer 10 hours shift on Sunday September 16, 2012. The
September 3rd shift will have the following lead shifts: #2 shift in Final; #1 and #2 in Paint/Body;
#1 and #3 in Body Box line. The lead shifts for the September 16th opportunity are as follows:
#3 shift in Final; #1 and #3 shift in Paint/Body; #1 and #3 Body box line. Start times for these two
volunteer opportunities are still to be determined.
• Anyone that volunteered to work the state fair can pick up their tickets in Labor Relations. You
will get your shirt from Mark Baker at the fairgrounds.
• The JDRF Awareness Ride is Sunday August 19, 2012, and starts at the flag pole. Registration is
at 7:30 am and the ride starts at 9am and ends at 1 pm. Volunteers are needed. If interested
contact Beth Kean at 357-1537.
• We are currently adding another team to Stamping. We have taken 10 people off the
Department to Department transfer list. We have also accepted 2 relief people, 5 material
handlers, and 1 inspector off the bids that were up last week. These moves have opened 8
additional spots in the paint shop which have also been filled using the Department to
Department list.
• September 7, 2012, is the tentative last day for the LTS/TPT employees at KTP. We have sent a
letter up north trying to extend this to November 2, 2012. We have been meeting with the
company on manpower to try and get some of the LTS employees converted to Entry Level.
• Some employees have started to receive their sub pay checks. Based on submissions most
employees will receive their checks this at the end of this week or early next week.
LAP Chairman’s Report
• C Crew started on Monday night at LAP and ran 580 units. The goal is 652 units a shift.
• LAP’s population is now over 4500 members, the largest it has ever been.
• The company is currently fixing the stop signs in the parking lots.
• Have assigned a Bargaining committeeman and 5 committee people to each crew.
• The launch of the Escape has been rough due to many vendor issues. Most vendors cannot keep
up with production and provide good quality. Sited Martin Rea as an example of a vendor who
has had issues. The fuel lines have also been a big problem.
• Steve bragged on his repairman and Quality rep Angie for doing a great job.
• Discussed the pressure of trying to set up jobs and that all standards are set on day shift. Talked
about some Quality leaders that acted like they were supervisors. Employees do not need to
take harassment from management for these jobs.
• Co-sponsoring a booth at the State Fair with KTP.
• Co-Sponsoring the UAW Veteran’s Day parade with KTP.
• LAP is sponsoring 6 people in the Iron Man this year.
• September 15, 2012, is a mandatory Saturday.
• September 9th and 25th are mandatory Sundays.
President’s Report
• The UAW Local Picnic will be at the Water Tower on September 30, 2012, from 10am to 5pm.
• The next Union Meeting will be September 4, 2012, at the KTP union hall.
• September 3, 2012, is the Labor Day Picnic. Cost is $5 in advance from Mark Baker or Ralph
Napier. The tickets are $7 at the door. Volunteers are needed to work, see Todd Dunn if
interested.
• UAW Golf Scramble August 26, 2012, at Iroquois Golf Course. Tee off at 1:15pm.
• The local is sponsoring a child for “Make a Wish” foundation with a $7000 donation.
• Thanked the membership for all the donations to the school supply drive. It has been extremely
successful.
• Discussed the damage to the storage facility at the LAP Hall by storms. Hope to rebuild with
insurance money. All actions will be brought to the membership.
• September 7 and 8, 2012, will be the day the parking lot at the LAP hall will be resealed.
• Discussed the Local’s involvement in building handicap accessible ramps for charity. Thanked
both chairmen for their support of the project.
