UAW LOCAL 862 ELECTIONS – Local 862 elections will be held May 22nd from
4:30am thru May 24th at 4:30am, at LAP Union Hall. Please refer to the
“Election Notice” that will be distributed throughout the plants for
nominated members and positions. This election is for your Executive Board,
Building Chairperson, and Bargaining Committee. If you do not have proper
identification, you will not be permitted to vote. Committeeperson Elections
well be held on May 29th from 4:30am thru May 31st at 4:30am.
Faurecia Informational Picket: Brothers and Sisters of Local 862, we are working
to get between 20 and 25 Local 862 members to assist us in the next leafleting
of the Faurecia Plant on Thursday the 22nd. If we have more than 25
volunteers to assist us in the informational picket, it would be great! Please
know that we are in a position to help our recently unionized facility, and
sister plant Faurecia Interior Systems, in their request to help organize the
Faurecia Exhaust Facility in Louisville. There are several false accusations
and scare tactics being spread by the company. They don’t realize that we,
the members of Local 862, have nothing to gain other than the simple fact that
we know these workers can gain a voice in the workplace. Please join us in the
leafleting of the Faurecia Exhaust Facility. We will meet at the LAP Union Hall
on Fern Valley Road at 1:30pm and then convoy to the plant located just a few
miles away. PLEASE WEAR A WHITE SHIRT IN SOLIDARITY FOR THESE FUTURE BROTHERS
AND SISTERS.

“It was the labor movement that helped secure so much of what we take for
granted today. The 40-hour work week, the minimum wage, family leave, health
insurance, Social Security, Medicare, retirement plans. The cornerstones of the
middle-class security all bear the union label.”- President Barack Obama
