Hello, I would like to bring your attention on a new post published on the
UAWLAP.org Site.
Details of the post follow.

WEEKLY UPDATE August 4, 2014
ORDER BANK: 2014 Escape
22,752 32 day supply
2015 Escape 27,185 30 day supply
2015 MKC 3,862 32 day supply
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: On Wednesday August 13, 2014 Louisville Assembly Plant
will be privileged to have several UAW visitors in the plant including Vice
President Jimmy Settles and our very own UAW Region 8 Director Ray Curry. They
will be visiting us after lunch to tour the Plant and see our local membership.
Please give Mr. Settles and Mr. Curry the warm welcome they deserve while they
are visiting. Thank you from Barry Ford and the Bargaining Committee.
JOB BIDS: If you are thinking about bidding on a job, make sure to check out the
job first and ask questions about it if you have any. Before you bid, make
sure you understand these three important points taken from our Local Agreement
related to bidding:
“If you bid on a job and change your mind that you no longer want to be
considered for the bid, you must withdraw your bid BEFORE the acceptance letter
is posted.”
“Once the bid letter is closed, ALL BIDS ARE FINAL. You will not be
surveyed to determine if you still want the bid. Therefore, if you are the top
eligible bidder for the bid, you will be accepted and will be expected to move
to the bid position. All bids will remain active for 30 days from the date the
acceptance letter is posted. If another opening occurs in the same
classification on the same crew/shift, additional bidders will be accepted from
the active list.”
Be aware of the contractual consequences that disqualifying yourself might
bring. According to our Local Agreement “An employee accepting a
classification through bidding then requesting to be disqualified/relieved from
the job shall not be permitted to return to the job they left. Exceptions will
only be allowed by mutual agreement between the UAW Bargaining Committee and
Labor Relations. They shall be sent to Labor Relations Office and reassigned
based on seniority and qualifications to available work. Available work is
defined as exhausted bids or openings historically filled by new hires,
reinstates, or rehires. When an employee voluntary disqualifies him/her from
their classification he/she will remain on the current crew/shift they are
assigned. Those employees who voluntary disqualifies himself/herself will not be
allowed to bid for a period of 12 months from the effective date. When an
employee is disqualified due to a disciplinary action, he/she will remain in the
department currently assigned, deviations may occur by mutual agreement. When an
employee is disqualified due to a medical or ergonomic issue he/she will return
to their previous classification in line of seniority. In accordance with number
5 of this section a crew/shift preference card may not be submitted for thirty
(30) days once an employee has disqualified himself/herself.”
DROTS: Make it a point to check your DROT’s daily to make sure you were paid
correctly the day/week before. It’s a lot easier to keep your pay straight
and get corrections made if you catch a mistake before the DROT’s freeze on
Monday mornings.
TEAM LEADERS: An FPS-CI Coordinator will be conducting a survey with every
Leader over the next week looking for open items such as training issues
regarding Utility, tools needed, on-going and or un-addressed Quality / Launch
issues. All identified items will be documented on your Roll-Up matrix per the
standard, and any item open after 4 productions days will be entered into GPA.
Please make the Coordinators aware of your issues.
